Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo wine takes center stage on the Casalbordino seafront
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Cerasuolo a Mare is the traveling wine festival that brings the best of Abruzzo's viticulture to the region's most stunning seaside locations every summer. One of the most anticipated stops is Casalbordino, a town in the province of Chieti overlooking the Costa dei Trabocchi, where the seafront transforms into a vast open-air cellar for the evening. The star of the show is the Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo, the celebrated rosé crafted from Montepulciano grapes and a true symbol of the region's winemaking identity.
Promoted by Confesercenti Pescara and directed by Gianni Taucci, the festival tours the three coastal provinces of Abruzzo each summer, featuring multiple stops and involving up to 40 local wineries. The initiative aims to combine the promotion of Abruzzo wines with the tourism development of coastal villages, in collaboration with the Consorzio Tutela Vini d'Abruzzo, the Fondazione Italiana Sommelier, and the Movimento Turismo del Vino. In Casalbordino, the event brings the seafront to life during the peak of the summer season.
The heart of the evening is the tasting area: with an affordable tasting kit, guests receive a glass and a selection of pours to discover and compare labels from the participating wineries. Alongside Cerasuolo, other Abruzzo wines—from Montepulciano to Trebbiano—are also featured. The food area is equally essential, with gourmet stands and local seaside restaurants offering special menus designed to pair perfectly with the wines and the flavors of the Adriatic.
Casalbordino, in Abruzzo, is a beloved destination on the Chieti coast, famous for its beaches, traditional trabocchi fishing platforms, and the renowned Sanctuary of the Madonna dei Miracoli. The Casalbordino stop of Cerasuolo a Mare is a highlight of the local summer calendar, offering a perfect blend of beach tourism, wine culture, and local gastronomy in one of the most picturesque settings on the Adriatic coast.
The Casalbordino stop of Cerasuolo a Mare is expected to return in 2026 on the Casalbordino seafront, in the province of Chieti. At the moment, the official dates and program for the 2026 edition have not yet been released by the organizers. The event, promoted by Confesercenti Pescara, typically features tastings of Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo and regional wines, alongside local wineries and food stands along the coast. The calendar will be updated as soon as information becomes available.
Casalbordino can be reached by car via the A14 motorway (Vasto Nord exit), following signs for the marina. By train, the reference station is Casalbordino-Pollutri on the Adriatic line, which is connected to the seafront. The event takes place on the promenade, which is a limited-traffic zone during the evenings.
Access to the area is free; tastings are available by purchasing a kit (glass plus samples) at the dedicated stands. We recommend pairing your wine with the food options available along the seafront.
