Summer cinema in Città di Castello
In Città di Castello, a city of art in the Province of Perugia in the Upper Tiber Valley, CdCinema is the summer open-air cinema festival that has graced July evenings for over fifteen editions. The main venue is the Santa Cecilia Courtyard, a secluded and evocative space in the heart of the city, where the audience gathers for screenings under the stars.
Quality films and meetings with directors
Each year, the programme offers a selection of quality films, from auteur comedies to Italian and international cinema, interspersed with special evenings and meetings with directors and actors. Over the years, it has hosted directors such as Roberto Pischiutta, Andrea Magnani, and Caterina Carone, who have presented their films to the local audience.
A travelling festival across the region
In recent years, CdCinema has adopted a travelling format, extending screenings to nearby hamlets and municipalities – from San Giustino to Trestina, from Petrelle to Badia Petroia – actively involving local communities. Organised by the association's volunteers with the support of the Municipality of Città di Castello, the festival has become a regular fixture of the Umbrian summer.

CdCinema returns again in summer 2026 with its open-air cinema festival at the Santa Cecilia Courtyard in Città di Castello and with travelling evenings in the hamlets and municipalities of the region. How to get here
Città di Castello is reachable by car from the E45 (Cesena-Orte link), exit Città di Castello, and by train via the Ferrovia Centrale Umbra. The Santa Cecilia Courtyard is located in the historic centre.
