Music and traditional dining at the highest castle in Trentino, in Bresimo
Castello d'Incanto is the summer evening event that the Pro Loco Bresimo dedicates to the Castello di Altaguardia, the highest fortification in Trentino, perched at 1,280 meters on Monte Pin, between the villages of Bevia and Baselga in the municipality of Bresimo (Autonomous Province of Trento). Documented as early as 1272, the manor belonged to the lords of Altavarda di Livo, passed to the Thun family in the early 15th century, and was finally acquired by the Municipality of Bresimo at the end of the 19th century. Today, its ruins become, for one night, a natural stage overlooking the Val di Non.
The concept is simple and evocative: a choral concert in the setting of the castle as the sunset light glides over the Maddalene mountains, followed by a traditional Anaunia dinner at the nearby Castel Basso facility. It is a way to rediscover a remote corner of the Trentino mountains by walking, listening, and sharing a meal, far from mass tourism. In case of bad weather, the entire event moves indoors to Castel Basso.
The Castello di Altaguardia cannot be reached by car: you must hike up exclusively on foot, with a walk through the woods lasting between 30 and 45 minutes depending on your starting point. This detail makes the event unique and perfect for those who love the mountains; organizers always recommend bringing a torch or headlamp for the evening descent. Dinner reservations are mandatory and can be made by contacting the Pro Loco Bresimo.
Over the years, Castello d'Incanto has carved out a permanent spot in the summer calendar of the upper Val di Non, often coinciding with the National Pro Loco Day. Documented between 2022 and 2026, it has become a small classic for valley residents and curious hikers alike: a meeting of historical heritage, mountain choral music, and traditional cuisine that tells the story of the identity of Bresimo and the most authentic side of Trentino-Alto Adige.

The event was held on the occasion of the National Pro Loco Day and was organized by the Pro Loco Bresimo. As per tradition, the castle was accessible only on foot with about 45 minutes of walking.
In case of bad weather, the entire event took place at Castel Basso. Dinner reservation mandatory.
