Vintage finds, retro treasures, and a community flea market in the heart of Castelfranco di Sopra
The Castelfranco di Sopra Vintage Market takes place in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, the central square of the village in the municipality of Castelfranco Piandiscò, in the province of Arezzo, Tuscany. Castelfranco di Sopra is one of the historic terre nuove (new lands) founded in the 14th century and attributed to the genius of Arnolfo di Cambio. It is officially recognized as one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in Italy": strolling through the market stalls, with views stretching along the historic porticoes and ancient walls, is an experience that makes the trip worthwhile.
The event brings together exhibitors offering treasures ready for a second life: retro objects, rare finds, antique furniture, mid-century modern pieces, porcelain, vintage accessories, books, vinyl records, coins, home decor, artisanal creations, and curiosities for every taste. It is a haven for those who love collecting, hunting for bargains, and the pleasure of breathing new life into old objects.
Alongside professional exhibitors, the market dedicates a space to the 'clear-out' corner with the invitation: "bring what you want, trade, recycle, sell"—a space designed to encourage reuse and exchange among locals. During editions coinciding with holidays, the event also hosts the "Tutti insieme per il Calcit" charity initiative, with proceeds donated entirely to Calcit Valdarno, highlighting the community-driven spirit of the event.
The market is organized by the Pro Loco Arnolfo di Cambio APS, which is dedicated to promoting the village and its traditions. Stalls fill the square from early morning until sunset, creating a relaxed atmosphere that blends a passion for antiques with the conviviality typical of Tuscan village festivals.
Castelfranco Piandiscò is strategically located between Arezzo and Florence, at the foot of the Pratomagno mountains. A visit to the market can easily be combined with exploring the surrounding area, from the waterfalls and villages of the Upper Valdarno to the flavors of traditional Tuscan country cuisine. It is the perfect opportunity for those seeking an authentic day trip through history, vintage treasures, and Tuscan landscapes.
The 35th edition of the Castelfranco di Sopra Vintage Market took place on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, in the heart of the village. The day, which coincided with the Liberation Day anniversary, combined a passion for antiques and vintage items with the town's institutional celebrations.
Exhibitors offered retro objects, rare finds, antique furniture, books, records, clothing, and home decor. Alongside the market, the 'clear-out' corner invited citizens to trade, recycle, and sell, while the "Tutti insieme per il Calcit" initiative raised funds for Calcit Valdarno.
By car: take the A1 motorway exit for Valdarno, then follow signs for Castelfranco Piandiscò / Castelfranco di Sopra. By train: arrive at San Giovanni Valdarno or Montevarchi station on the Florence-Arezzo line, then continue by bus or car to the village.
The market generally runs from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Admission is free for visitors.
