Valnegra Chestnut Festival and Markets

Autumn in Valnegra

When the colors and flavors of autumn arrive, Valnegra (province of Bergamo), one of the smallest municipalities in Val Brembana, celebrates its Chestnut Festival, the traditional chestnut festival with markets. For an entire day, the village center comes alive with stalls of typical products and crafts, while the air fills with the aroma of roasted chestnuts.

Roasted Chestnuts, Flavors, and Music

The program includes the opening of the markets with typical products and crafts, lunch with local specialties — casoncelli, salami, cheeses, and desserts — prepared by volunteers, and in the afternoon, roasted chestnuts accompanied by mulled wine and accordion music. Face painting is provided for the children. The parish charity raffle and the small historical-naturalistic museum of the town also remain open.

Part of the Upper Val Brembana Circuit

The Valnegra chestnut festival is part of the autumn festivals circuit of the Upper Val Brembana, which from October to November showcases the seasonal products and villages of the valley. Organized by the Vallegra APS association in collaboration with the municipal administration, it is also an opportunity to discover a small mountain village rich in history, in the heart of the province of Bergamo.
