The Peglio Chestnut Festival
Peglio is a small municipality in the province of Como, perched at about 650 meters above Gravedona, in a panoramic position overlooking the upper Lake Como. Every autumn, in October, the village renews its Chestnut Festival, organized by the Pro Loco: a simple and genuine celebration dedicated to the fruit that symbolizes the season.
Chestnuts roasted over a wood fire
The heart of the day is the roasted chestnuts – the mundè in the local dialect – cooked in large perforated pans over a wood fire. Families and visitors gather around the stall for an afternoon of music, folklore, games, and tastings of local specialties. The festival takes place in the square of the church of SS. Eusebio and Vittore, in the center of the village.
A charitable festival
The chestnut festival also has a charitable purpose: the proceeds collected are donated to the parish church of Peglio. For the Municipality of Peglio and the Province of Como, the event is an opportunity to experience Alto Lario in the season of red leaves, amidst tradition, panoramas, and conviviality.

The 2026 edition brings the traditional autumn chestnut festival back to Peglio. Following the pattern of recent editions, the afternoon will feature chestnuts cooked in large pans over a wood fire, with music, folklore, games, and tastings of local specialties. How to get there
Peglio can be reached by car by driving up from Gravedona, on the upper Lake Como, along the road leading to Val Liro. Gravedona is served by ferries and the SS340 Regina along the western shore of the lake.
