About Chestnut Festival

In Corna Imagna, a village in the Imagna Valley in the province of Bergamo, the chestnut is the star every autumn. Promoted by the young people of the Cooperativa Giovani Orme, the Chestnut Festival culminates in a Sunday in October at the Parco degli Alpini, with roasted chestnuts, mulled wine, chestnut-based dishes, music, and workshops for children. For those who wish, there is also the opportunity to pick chestnuts accompanied by the owners of the village's chestnut groves.

Corna Imagna, capital of the chestnut

In the Municipality of Corna Imagna (Province of Bergamo), the chestnut is not just a seasonal fruit: it is part of the village's identity. This is evidenced by the centuries-old chestnut groves surrounding the town and the community's deep connection with this mountain crop. It is here that every autumn the Chestnut Festival comes to life, promoted by the young people of the Cooperativa Giovani Orme, an organization founded to enhance the territory of the Imagna Valley and provide work for disadvantaged people.

Not just one day

The festival is not limited to a single day: throughout October, the village experiences a true chestnut-themed month, with initiatives, self-harvesting in the chestnut groves, and chestnut-based dishes offered in the valley. The cooperative also acts as a collection center, where small producers from the valley can sell their chestnuts at a fair price, fruits then used for the festival or destined for the market.

The festival day

The heart of the event is a Sunday at the end of October at the Parco degli Alpini. From the early afternoon, braziers are lit for roasted chestnuts, accompanied by mulled wine, while musical entertainment with local musicians and workshops for children fill the afternoon. Those who wish can also experience direct harvesting in the chestnut groves, guided by the owners of the trees.

It is an authentic event, far from the more touristy festivals, where the Imagna Valley tells its story through its symbolic product and the commitment of a new generation determined to renew tradition.

Chestnut Festival — edition 2026

The Chestnut Festival of Corna Imagna will return in October 2026, with initiatives spread throughout the month and the main day scheduled for a Sunday at the end of October at the Parco degli Alpini. The exact date will be announced by the Cooperativa Giovani Orme in the weeks prior.

A new edition of the Chestnut Festival of Corna Imagna is expected for autumn 2026, organized by the Cooperativa Giovani Orme. As in previous years, initiatives should be spread throughout October, with the main day at the Parco degli Alpini on a Sunday at the end of the month.

The precise date has not yet been published at the time of writing: it will be communicated by the cooperative through its channels.
