The masked parade that brings the streets of this village at the foot of Mount Musinè to life
The Caselette Carnival is one of the most cherished traditions in this small town within the Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont, situated in the lower Susa Valley at the foot of Mount Musinè and just a short distance from the Sacra di San Michele. Every year, during the Carnival season, the town dresses up to welcome visitors of all ages for a day filled with joy, color, and folk traditions.
The highlight is the masked parade that winds through the village streets, brought to life by the local marching band and constant showers of confetti. Children, families, and costumed groups create a joyful procession where imagination reigns supreme: costumes crafted from simple materials like cardboard and papier-mâché stand alongside more elaborate outfits, all united by the enthusiasm that defines this community celebration.
After the parade, the festivities move to the Village Oratory on Via Don Colombero, the true beating heart of the event. Here, participants find games, music, shows, and plenty of sweets prepared by local associations. The traditional costume contest is a must, rewarding the most fun and original masks across different categories (individuals and groups) with vouchers to spend at local businesses.
The Caselette Carnival is organized by the Municipality of Caselette in close cooperation with local associations and youth group leaders, reflecting a strong spirit of community participation. The event attracts families with children not only from Caselette but also from neighboring towns in the Susa Valley, proving to be a precious opportunity to meet and celebrate together.
Visiting Caselette during the Carnival is also a great chance to discover a charming corner of Piedmont: the village lies at the entrance to the Susa Valley, dominated by the mass of Mount Musinè and immersed in a landscape of foothills and ancient traditions, just a short distance from Turin and the main tourist destinations of the lower valley.
