The Carnival of Cavriago

Carnevale in Piazza is the event that brings the colors and joy of Carnival to the heart of Cavriago, a municipality in the Province of Reggio Emilia, in Emilia-Romagna. Every year, on a Sunday in late winter, the central Piazza Zanti transforms into a large festive space designed primarily for children and their families.

A village festival animated by young volunteers

The event is organized by the association Cuariegh on the Road, a group of young local volunteers who have been animating the Cavriago Carnival for several years. The initiative takes place under the patronage of the Municipality of Cavriago and is completely free: it is an opportunity for gathering and fun open to the entire community, in the spirit of the village festivals that characterize Emilia's popular tradition.

What to expect

The afternoon in the square is dedicated to children and offers a simple but well-curated program:

• Games and entertainment for the little ones;
• Face painting to transform into fantastic characters;
• Inflatables for jumping and playing safely;
• Mask parade, the highlight of the festival, with costumes, confetti, and streamers;
• Refreshment stand with chips, chicken nuggets, and drinks.
