The protagonists of the Street Parade are choral and orchestral ensembles, bands, singers, actors, dancers, acrobats, and visual artists, who bring to life a traveling performance inspired by the music and figure of Giuseppe Verdi, the composer born in Roncole di Busseto, in the Parma region, and an identity symbol for the entire territory. The procession starts from the heart of the city and winds its way along a route full of surprises, from the historic center to the Oltretorrente district, concluding in Piazzale della Pace, where the celebration culminates with evocative videomapping shows on the facades of the buildings.

The Verdi Street Parade returns to Parma on Saturday, September 19, 2026, to inaugurate the 26th edition of the Verdi Festival and the Verdi Off series. The Verdi Festival 2026, dedicated to the theme "Distant Worlds", will take place from October 1 to 25, 2026, between Parma and Busseto, featuring the major opera productions of Alzira, Aida, and Nabucodonosor, the Verdian Gala, and the Messa da Requiem.
As every year, the parade will animate the historic center with thousands of artists, choral ensembles, bands, dancers, and acrobats in a widespread, free performance inspired by the world of Verdi, created in collaboration with the artisans of the Viareggio Carnival.
