The free Carnival of the Municipality of Casavatore, featuring parades, masks, and the Pulcinella band
"Casavatore in Maschera" is the annual Carnival organized by the Municipality of Casavatore, a town in the Metropolitan City of Naples, Campania. It is a free event, aimed primarily at children and families, that transforms the town's squares and parks into a vibrant celebration. The streets fill with confetti, music, and masks, making it one of the most anticipated and well-attended events on the local calendar.
The heart of the event is the mask parade, which brings together traditional Neapolitan figures—above all Pulcinella—with beloved children's characters, such as those inspired by Disney cartoons. The procession is accompanied by the lively Pulcinella band, while entertainers, jugglers, and street performers delight the crowd with bubble shows and circus acts. A charming little train transports visitors of all ages along the route, connecting the various event locations.
The 2026 edition, originally scheduled for February 14, was postponed due to bad weather and took place on February 19 and 21, 2026. On the first day, the festivities kicked off in the historic center: the little train carried participants to Piazza Di Nocera, where bubble and circus shows were held, followed by the parade featuring the Pulcinella band and the Neapolitan and Disney masks. On the second day, the event moved to Parco delle Acacie and Parco Petrucci, featuring the children's show "Milo, il tesoro del libro" (Milo, the book's treasure), inspired by the Melevisione TV program, and the traditional distribution of gifts to children in costume.
"Casavatore in Maschera" is designed as a community gathering: admission is free and activities are specifically tailored to the little ones, who can dance to baby dance music, play with entertainers, and take photos with their favorite characters. It is a wonderful opportunity to experience Carnival in a simple, genuine way, outdoors in the city's public spaces.
Casavatore is a small town in the area north of Naples, Campania. The Carnival is part of the calendar of events promoted by the municipal administration and is often included in the "Metropolitan Events Calendar" of the Metropolitan City of Naples. For a densely populated community like this, the masked festival represents a precious opportunity for social gathering and rediscovering shared urban spaces.
The 2026 Carnival of Casavatore, "Casavatore in Maschera," was initially scheduled for February 14 but was postponed due to adverse weather conditions. The festival was then held over two days, February 19 and 21, 2026, organized by the Municipality of Casavatore.
On February 19, the event started in the historic center: at 9:30 AM, a little train accompanied participants to Piazza Di Nocera, where bubble and circus shows took place; at 10:30 AM, the Pulcinella band and the parade with Neapolitan and Disney masks began. On February 21, starting at 9:30 AM, the event moved to Parco delle Acacie, with the train heading to Parco Petrucci for the show "Milo, il tesoro del libro," inspired by the Melevisione. On this day as well, the parade and the Pulcinella band animated the streets, with entertainers busy distributing gifts to children in costume.
Events are held in various locations in Casavatore (NA): the historic center, Piazza Di Nocera, Parco delle Acacie, and Parco Petrucci. A little train connects the different points of the event.
