The Carnival Festival is one of the most anticipated winter events in Cellino Attanasio, a small town in the province of Teramo, Abruzzo. Organized by the Pro Loco Cellino Attanasio APS with the patronage of the Municipality, the festival has been held for many years, continuing to bring smiles to both young and old while keeping a deeply rooted popular tradition alive within the community.

A Carnival designed for children

The heart of the event is dedicated to the little ones. At the Pro Loco headquarters, overlooking Piazza San Francesco, children in costume gather for an afternoon of games, entertainment, music, and fun. Confetti, streamers, colorful costumes, and traditional seasonal sweets turn the historic center into a small stage of joy, where families can share a festive moment in a simple and convivial atmosphere.

In the medieval village of Cellino Attanasio

The festival takes place in the evocative historic center of Cellino Attanasio, one of the most characteristic medieval villages in the Val Vomano, with its stone alleys, ancient walls, and the Church of Santa Maria La Nova. The Carnival is one of the moments when the town reconnects with its community spirit, alongside other traditional events organized by the Pro Loco throughout the year.

The Cellino Attanasio Carnival Festival is part of the regional program "Carnival with the Pro Loco of Abruzzo", promoted by UNPLI Abruzzo, which networks dozens of carnival events across the region. This initiative highlights the intangible cultural heritage of Abruzzo and the role of volunteer associations in promoting local traditions.
