The open-air festival hosted by the Ovindoli Pro Loco on the Altopiano delle Rocche
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Campagnola Festival is one of the most deeply rooted summer events in the calendar of the Ovindoli Pro Loco, located in the heart of the Altopiano delle Rocche, in the province of L'Aquila. As the name suggests, it is a country-style festival: it takes place outdoors, traditionally in the pine forest area (known as La Pinetina), a spot that becomes a summer meeting point for families and holidaymakers immersed in the greenery of the Abruzzo mountains.
According to the Pro Loco's event schedule, the Campagnola Festival traditionally falls on the last Sunday of July, marking the end of the first part of the Ovindoli summer before the patronal celebrations in August and other events like oVindoliAmo. It is a fixed appointment, managed by the Pro Loco volunteers, who turn it into a moment of community gathering.
The heart of the festival is its convivial atmosphere: the day is spent together, with outdoor tables, music, and traditional Abruzzese cuisine. Ovindoli and the Sirente-Velino area are home to genuine mountain products, from arrosticini (skewered lamb) to local cheeses and cured meats, which are the stars of the village's summer tables.
Ovindoli is one of the most well-known mountain villages in Abruzzo, famous in winter for the Magnola ski slopes and in summer for its cool climate and the landscapes of the Sirente-Velino Regional Park. The Municipality of Ovindoli, together with Aielli and Rocca di Mezzo, forms the Altopiano delle Rocche, a popular mountain holiday destination. In this setting, the Campagnola Festival offers an authentic opportunity to experience the local community far from the major tourist circuits.
The festival is organized on a voluntary basis by the Ovindoli Pro Loco. For dates, exact locations, and updated programs for each edition, it is best to refer to the official Pro Loco channels.
At the moment, the Ovindoli Pro Loco has not yet published the official dates and program for the 2026 edition of the Campagnola Festival. As it is a fixed event traditionally held on the last Sunday of July, the edition is expected to take place in 2026 in the usual outdoor setting of the Ovindoli pine forest, on the Altopiano delle Rocche. To find out the exact date, location, and program, it is best to follow the official Pro Loco channels.
Ovindoli (AQ) can be reached by car via the A25 Rome-Pescara motorway, taking the Aielli-Celano exit and continuing towards the Altopiano delle Rocche. The village is about an hour and a half from both Rome and Pescara.
The festival is held outdoors, traditionally in the Ovindoli pine forest area, on the last Sunday of July. Comfortable clothing and a light jacket for the evening are recommended, given the cool mountain temperatures.
