The Cammarata Culture Week is the major summer festival that brings the village of Cammarata to life in the heart of the Sicani Mountains, in the province of Agrigento. Launched in 2021, it has grown with each edition to become a highly anticipated event, not only for locals but for visitors from all over Sicily. For about ten days, between late July and early August, the squares, courtyards, and alleys of the historic center are filled with crowds until late in the evening.
The strength of the festival lies in its variety: every day offers multiple events dedicated to art in all its forms. The program typically alternates between:
Promoted by the Municipality of Cammarata, the Culture Week was born from the desire to make the town a place of encounter and opportunity, where local excellence engages with that of Sicily and the world. Each edition revolves around a theme: in 2024, «Woman, Sicily and beyond», dedicated to the feminine and archaic mythology; in 2025, «Mother Earth: Journey to Gaia», focusing on the relationship between humanity, nature, and roots. The festival aims to enhance the village's natural and architectural heritage, transforming culture into a concrete tool for community growth.
Cammarata is one of the most characteristic towns in the Agrigento hinterland, nestled on the slopes of the mountain of the same name and bordering San Giovanni Gemini. Its historic center, made of churches, stairways, and panoramic viewpoints, offers the ideal setting for a widespread event that invites you to rediscover the Sicani Mountains away from the most crowded tourist destinations. All events of the Culture Week are free to attend.
The dates and program for the 2026 edition of the Cammarata Culture Week have not yet been announced at the time of publication. Following the usual calendar of recent editions, the event is expected to return to the historic center of Cammarata between late July and early August, with the customary multidisciplinary program of theater, music, dance, art exhibitions, book presentations, workshops, and tastings, all with free admission. For official dates and the theme of the 2026 edition, we recommend checking the festival's social media channels.
Cammarata is located in the hinterland of the province of Agrigento, in the Sicani Mountains. By car, it can be reached via the SS189 Palermo-Agrigento road, taking the exit toward Cammarata–San Giovanni Gemini. The nearest airports are Palermo (Punta Raisi) and Catania Fontanarossa, both about an hour and a half to two hours away by car.
All events are free and open to the public.
The events are held in the historic center of Cammarata, across the village's squares, courtyards, and open-air spaces.
Events take place mainly in the evening, taking advantage of milder temperatures: it is advisable to wear comfortable shoes for the uphill alleys of the historic center and to check the daily program on the event's official social media channels.
