The night of San Lorenzo featuring wine, art, and stars at the Tenuta Donnafugata estate in Contessa Entellina
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Calici di Stelle at Tenuta Donnafugata is one of the most anticipated wine tourism events of the summer in Sicily. Every year, coinciding with the night of San Lorenzo, the historic winery opens its Contessa Entellina estate, in the Province of Palermo, to welcome wine lovers among illuminated vineyards, gardens, and olive groves. The initiative is part of the national Calici di Stelle circuit promoted by the Movimento Turismo del Vino, but at Donnafugata, it takes on a spectacular and deeply distinctive dimension.
The evening is more than just a tasting: it is an experiential journey where the audience takes center stage. The open-air tasting stations allow guests to sample a selection of the winery's most famous labels, including historic vintages and iconic wines, while the hilly landscape provides a natural backdrop for artistic performances, live music, video mapping, and light installations. Past editions have featured original reinterpretations of the theme: from the Gran Ballo di Donnafugata, inspired by the atmosphere of 19th-century Sicily and The Leopard (Il Gattopardo), to nights dedicated to contemporary dance.
The heart of the evening is naturally the wines of Donnafugata, one of the island's most prestigious wineries. The glasses range from the house's signature labels to great reds and meditation wines, in a sensory journey that tells the story of the different production territories, from western Sicily to the islands. Tastings are often accompanied by curated pairings and moments of in-depth exploration.
The date, linked to the night of the shooting stars, is no coincidence: in many editions, the evening concludes with a toast and stargazing, sometimes guided by astronomy experts who explain the constellations and celestial bodies typical of summer. It is the moment when wine, art, and nature merge into a single experience, beneath the hills of the municipality of Contessa Entellina.
The estate is located along the SS 624 Palermo-Sciacca road, in a fascinating rural area of inland Sicily. Beyond the event, the property is a destination for those who want to get to know the world of Sicilian wine and the agricultural landscape of the Province of Palermo up close, amidst vineyards, olive groves, and rural architecture.
The 2026 edition of Calici di Stelle at Tenuta Donnafugata in Contessa Entellina (Palermo, Sicily) does not yet have an official date announced by the organizers. Historically, the evening is held during the period of the night of San Lorenzo, in August, and offers tastings of the winery's wines accompanied by art, music, and stargazing. Program details will be published by the winery in the weeks leading up to the event.
Tenuta Donnafugata is located along the SS 624 Palermo-Sciacca road, at km 60, in the territory of Contessa Entellina (PA). By car, it can be reached from the A29 Palermo-Mazara del Vallo motorway by taking the exit towards the interior. In past editions, a free shuttle service has been provided from the Contrada Cavallaro parking area.
Admission is paid and by reservation only: wine tasting is included in the ticket price. The event often sells out, so booking well in advance via the official website or by calling the winery (+39 0923 724245) is highly recommended.
As this is an evening outdoor event, comfortable clothing is recommended. The tasting includes wine but not food; restaurants are available in the vicinity.
