Fair, historical re-enactment, and the Savoia-Acaja Court Palio in the heart of the Susa Valley
The Spring Festival is a major event that transforms the center of Bussoleno, a town in the lower Susa Valley in the province of Turin, into an open-air stage of fairs, traditions, and historical re-enactments. It is one of those days when an entire town, along with much of the valley community, gathers in the streets to rediscover its roots among stalls, period costumes, and ancient crafts.
The event has been listed in the official register of historical festivals and re-enactments of the Piedmont Region since 2015, a recognition that certifies its cultural and identity value. After a long hiatus that began in 2020, the festival experienced a rebirth, returning to fill the streets of the center with the same energy as before and confirming itself as one of the most cherished appointments in the Bussoleno calendar.
The most spectacular moment is the medieval historical re-enactment, which commemorates the famous wedding between Philip I of Savoy-Achaea and Isabella of Villehardouin. Historical groups from the valley parade along Piazza della Stazione and Via Traforo, competing for the Savoia-Acaja Court Palio through an engaging medieval version of the Game of the Goose, organized by the Primo Impatto Cultural Association. The day is further enriched by the Flag-wavers and Musicians of the City of Avigliana, one of the excellence of the Turin area, with their choreographies of flags and drums.
Alongside the historical section, the Spring Fair fills Via Traforo with over a hundred exhibitors of crafts, flowers, and local products, while Via Walter Fontan transforms into the Flea Market Street, dedicated to vintage items and minor antiques. The day is also an opportunity to visit the town's historical monuments, with extraordinary openings and guided tours of Casa Aschieri and the Mulino Varesio, jewels of the local architectural heritage.
Organized by the Pro Loco of Bussoleno APS together with the Primo Impatto Association, local merchants, and the Municipality of Bussoleno, the Spring Festival is a free event suitable for the whole family, perfect for discovering the most authentic soul of the Susa Valley.
The 2026 edition of the Spring Festival, the fifth of the event, took place on Sunday, June 7 in Bussoleno and represented the definitive rebirth of the festival after the long suspension that began in 2020. The streets of the center transformed into a great stage for social interaction, commerce, and associations, capable of uniting the entire Susa Valley community.
There were three major highlights of the day: the Spring Fair along Via Traforo, the Flea Market Street on Via Walter Fontan, and the historical re-enactment with the Savoia-Acaja Court Palio.
