Live music in the castles of Prissiano

Burgen Live—also known by its historic name Burgen & Spectaculum—is a summer festival of concerts and cabaret shows that, between June and July, transforms the castles of Prissiano, a village in the municipality of Tesimo/Tisens (Province of Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol), into open-air stages. The event is a highlight of the Tesimo-Prissiano region, an area famous for its ancient manors set on the plateau between Merano and Bolzano.

Three castles, one unique atmosphere

The heart of the festival lies in the village's three historic residences, which host the concerts in rotation and provide a stunning backdrop for the evenings:

• Castel Fahlburg, an elegant noble residence in the center of Prissiano;
• Castel Wehrburg (Schloss Wehrburg), overlooking the plateau;
• Castel Katzenzungen, famous for its centuries-old Versoaln grapevine, often used as an alternative venue in case of bad weather.

This setting of ancient walls, courtyards, and vineyards gives every evening an intimacy rarely found in large festivals: the audience listens to music just a few steps from the artists, immersed in the landscape of South Tyrol.

Program and genres

The lineup spans a wide range of genres: pop, rock, folk, singer-songwriter music, and timeless oldies, alternating with sharp cabaret evenings. Each event features a different lineup, from local South Tyrolean groups to original projects, in a program designed for audiences of all ages. Evenings usually begin in prime time, with concerts starting around 8:30 PM.

A local event

Burgen Live is organized by the Tesimo-Prissiano Tourist Association (Tourismusverein Tisens-Prissian) and is a perfect opportunity to discover the musical tradition and hospitality of this corner of the Merano area. The festival is part of the summer calendar of Tesimo/Tisens, a municipality known for its castles, scenic trails, and the rural culture of the Burggrafenamt.
