Burattinarte arrives in Lequio Berria

In the small village of Lequio Berria, perched on the hills of the Alta Langa in the province of Cuneo, the Burattinarte Summertime festival makes a stop with an event that serves as both a preview and a statement of intent. At the Oasi delle Terrazze, on Via Madonna, the stage is set for "The Wonderful Web", a nature-inspired storytelling journey created by the Compagnia Claudio e Consuelo, led by artistic directors Consuelo Conterno and Claudio Giri.

A performance weaving stories and nature

"The Wonderful Web" is no traditional stage play: it is a theatrical walk winding through the green spaces of the Oasi delle Terrazze. Inspired by the work of botanist Robin Wall Kimmerer, the performance weaves together stories, sounds, and games to guide adults and children alike in discovering the invisible network that connects the living world. It is an invitation to view trees, plants, and creatures with fresh eyes, in perfect harmony with the Alta Langa landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its vineyards and forests.

The preview of the 32nd edition

The Lequio Berria event officially kicks off the 32nd edition of the Burattinarte International Puppet Theatre Festival, which runs from June 25 to September 6, 2026, across Alba and numerous towns in the Langhe and Roero areas, including La Morra, Bra, Cherasco, Grinzane Cavour, Guarene, Murazzano, Castagnito, and Novello. Organized by the Burattinarte Cultural Association, the festival brings Italian and international companies to the region, featuring over forty performances including puppets, marionettes, actor-based theatre, and experimental productions.

A festival spread across the Langhe

Burattinarte is one of the longest-running puppet theatre events in Italy, transforming the squares, courtyards, and natural landscapes of the Cuneo area into open-air stages every summer. The choice of a venue like the Oasi delle Terrazze, where art meets the environment, perfectly reflects the festival's mission: to bring the public, especially the younger generation, closer to a popular and poetic form of theatre that is deeply rooted in Piedmontese traditions while remaining open to dialogue with artists from around the world.
