The Burattinarte puppet theatre festival arrives in the main square of Lequio Berria
Burattinarte Summertime arrives in Lequio Berria, a small town in the Alta Langa area of the Province of Cuneo (Piedmont), for an evening dedicated to puppet theatre. On Sunday, July 5, 2026, at 6:30 PM, in Piazza Guglielmo Marconi, the Compagnia Manitasca will present the show "Ristorante Belzebù", an event designed for families, children, and curious minds of all ages.
Burattinarte is the international puppet theatre festival of the Alba area. Established in 1994, it is now one of the most recognizable events of its kind in Piedmont. Its strength lies in combining the popular, accessible nature of the town square with artistic research, playfulness with poetry, and lightness with depth. The summer edition, Summertime, takes place between late June and early September 2026, visiting various towns in the Langhe and Roero regions, including Alba, Lequio Berria, Piobesi d'Alba, La Morra, Bra, Guarene, Murazzano, Cherasco, Grinzane Cavour, Castagnito, and Novello.
Puppets, marionettes, shadows, and animated objects come to life before the public in open-air spaces, historic centres, and village squares. In Lequio Berria, the show is held in the central Piazza Guglielmo Marconi, following the informal and accessible format that is the festival's hallmark: you arrive, take a seat, and let yourself be amazed by the storytelling. The artistic direction is led by Claudio Giri and Consuelo Conterno, the historic souls of the event.
Lequio Berria is located in a panoramic position among the vine-covered hills of the Langhe, a UNESCO World Heritage site: a Burattinarte stop is also a great excuse for an evening trip through some of the most beautiful landscapes in Piedmont.
The 2026 event in Lequio Berria takes place on Sunday, July 5, at 6:30 PM in Piazza Guglielmo Marconi. The star of the show is the Compagnia Manitasca with their performance "Ristorante Belzebù", one of the many events of the Burattinarte Summertime taking place in the towns of the Langhe.
The evening is part of the festival's overall programme, which in the summer of 2026 brings Italian and international companies to the villages of the Alba area with puppets, marionettes, street theatre, and storytelling for all ages.
The show is one of the stops of the Burattinarte Summertime 2026 (June 25 – September 6), which brings puppet theatre to the towns of Alba, Lequio Berria, Piobesi d'Alba, La Morra, Bra, Guarene, Murazzano, Cherasco, Grinzane Cavour, Castagnito, and Novello.
