The mountain race climbing from Bronzolo to Aldino, one of the most challenging running events in South Tyrol
The Bronzolo-Aldino Mountain Race is one of the most anticipated events on the South Tyrolean running calendar. Every year, at the end of May, the race tests the legs and lungs of athletes and amateurs alike along a course that is as short as it is grueling: approximately 6 kilometers in length with an elevation gain of 1170 meters. It is a true vertical challenge, highly regarded by those who love mountain running and uphill races.
The start is set in the heart of the municipality of Bronzolo/Branzoll, in front of the town hall, on the valley floor of the Adige. From here, the track immediately begins to steepen, gaining altitude along the slopes that rise toward the plateau until reaching the village of Aldino/Aldein, where the festival area welcomes competitors at the finish line. The continuous gain in altitude offers increasingly wide panoramic views of the Bassa Atesina and the surrounding mountains, in one of the most evocative areas of the Province of Bolzano, in the heart of the Trentino-Alto Adige region.
The event is organized by the Unione Sportiva Dilettantistica Bronzolo in collaboration with ASV Aldein, under the aegis of the CSI (Italian Sports Center). The race is open to male and female categories, and a medical certificate of competitive sports fitness is required. Upon arrival in Aldino, the convivial aspect is not to be missed: musical accompaniment, refreshment points with food and drinks provided by SV Aldein, and a shuttle bus service that returns participants to Bronzolo after the awards ceremony.
Like many events in the Province of Bolzano, the race fully embraces its bilingual identity: the two municipalities are known by both their Italian names (Bronzolo, Aldino) and their German ones (Branzoll, Aldein). The event attracts runners from all over South Tyrol and represents a pleasant opportunity to combine athletic competition, exploration of the territory, and the community spirit of South Tyrolean villages.
The 52nd Bronzolo-Aldino Mountain Race was held on Sunday, May 24, 2026, confirming the traditional course of approximately 6 kilometers with 1170 meters of elevation gain from the Municipality of Bronzolo/Branzoll to Aldino/Aldein. The start was given in the morning in front of the Bronzolo town hall, with the finish in the Aldino festival area, where participants were welcomed with refreshments, music, and an awards ceremony.
The race, organized by the Unione Sportiva Dilettantistica Bronzolo together with ASV Aldein under the aegis of the CSI, maintained its proven formula: registration and bib distribution in the early morning, start around 9:30 AM for both the competitive and amateur versions, awards ceremony at the end of the morning, and shuttle bus service for the return to Bronzolo.
Bronzolo/Branzoll is located on the Adige valley floor, south of Bolzano, well-connected by the A22 Brenner motorway (Egna/Ora or Bolzano Sud exit) and served by the Brenner railway. Aldino/Aldein can be reached by car along the road that climbs up to the plateau.
The race registration fee is approximately 20 euros. A medical certificate of competitive fitness is mandatory. Final registrations and bib distribution take place on the morning of the race in front of the Bronzolo town hall.

At the end of the race, shuttle buses are available for the return to Bronzolo, in addition to refreshments and musical entertainment in the Aldino festival area.
