The wildest mountain running race at the foot of the Brenta Dolomites
The Brenta Wild Race is one of the most demanding and spectacular mountain running races in Trentino. It takes place in Campodenno, a town in the Val di Non in the province of Trento, and traverses the north-eastern sector of the Brenta Dolomites, a mountain complex known as the Campa subgroup, which is renowned for its wild charm. The event is organized by the K-40 sports association and attracts athletes from all over Trentino-Alto Adige and neighboring regions every year.
The race offers two tracks starting from the Termon airfield, a hamlet of Campodenno, at 9:00 AM. The main route covers approximately 23 km with 2,000 meters of positive elevation gain, while the shorter version, the Brenta Wild Run, spans about 14 km with 1,200 meters of elevation gain, designed for those who want to tackle an intense but more accessible challenge.
The name "Wild" is no coincidence: the route alternates between technical trails, exposed sections, and passages immersed in the most authentic nature of the Brenta Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Athletes face significant elevation changes on varied terrain, from forests to rocky paths and alpine pastures, with panoramic views spanning the peaks of the Brenta group. The race is included in the Trentino trail running calendar and is valid for various regional rankings.
The Brenta Wild Race is much more than a sporting competition: it is an opportunity to showcase the territory of Campodenno and the Val di Non, a valley famous for its apple orchards and its access to the northern side of the Brenta Dolomites. The event, reaching its sixth edition in 2026, helps promote outdoor tourism and mountain culture in this corner of the province of Trento.
The 2026 edition of the Brenta Wild Race was held on Sunday, July 5, 2026, in Campodenno, in the province of Trento. The start was set for 9:00 AM from the Termon airfield. The program included two tracks: the main 23 km route with 2,000 m of positive elevation gain and the shorter Brenta Wild Run version of 14 km with 1,200 m of elevation gain. Registration, managed online, offered a reduced fee of 45 euros until the end of June. The race crossed the Scalette, the Scalacce, and the pastures of Malga Arza, confirming its status as a key event in the Trentino trail running scene.
Campodenno can be reached by car via the SS43 road of the Val di Non, taking the exit from Trento towards Cles; the start is at the Termon airfield. By train, the Trento-Malè-Mezzana railway stops in the vicinity of the valley.
Registration is done online via the official race website. A reduced fee (45 euros for both routes) is available for those who register by the end of June.
As this is a technical mountain race, appropriate trail running clothing suitable for high-altitude weather conditions is essential.
