Artistic nativity scenes in the alleys of the Old Town
During the Christmas holidays, the Old Town of Termoli (Province of Campobasso) transforms into the Borgo dei Presepi: a charming itinerary of artistic nativity scenes scattered throughout the alleys, niches, and houses of the historic center. The project, curated by the Amici Presepisti, stems from a collaboration with the families of the town, who provide spaces, gardens, and homes among the most beautiful corners of the village.
The route starts with a large electro-mechanical nativity scene on Via Duomo, which reproduces the historic center in miniature with scenes of daily life, and continues through Via Duomo, Via Vescovo Pitirro, Via Campolieti, Via Marò De Gregorio, the Termoli Sotterranea in Piazza Duomo, and the Borgo Mastro location. Each stop is a small tableau of tradition and craftsmanship.
The Borgo dei Presepi is one of the highlights of the "Natale a Termoli" program. Strolling through the illuminated alleys of the Old Town, discovering nativity scenes large and small, is an intimate and poetic way to experience the holidays on the Adriatic coast. Visits are free and concentrated on weekends and holidays during the Christmas season.
The Borgo dei Presepi is now a well-established event for Christmas in Termoli. For the 2026 holidays, the itinerary of artistic and electro-mechanical nativity scenes is expected to return to the Old Town of Termoli, curated by the Amici Presepisti in collaboration with the town's families. The route winds through Via Duomo, Via Vescovo Pitirro, the Termoli Sotterranea, and other corners of the historic center, with openings on weekends and holidays. Dates and details will be confirmed by the Municipality of Termoli closer to the festivities.
