About Borgo Carnival

The Borgo San Dalmazzo Carnival is the traditional Shrove Tuesday celebration that brings Piazza della Meridiana to life in the Cuneo province. Organized by the local parish and municipality with the support of volunteers and community associations, it is an event designed primarily for families, featuring music, dancing, face painting, snacks for everyone, and an awards ceremony for the most creative costumes. An afternoon of color, joy, and togetherness that brings children, parents, and grandparents together in the center of this Piedmontese town.

Carnival in the heart of Borgo San Dalmazzo

The Borgo San Dalmazzo Carnival is a popular festival that transforms Piazza della Meridiana into a vibrant space of joy and color on Shrove Tuesday. It is one of the most cherished traditions for the community of Borgo San Dalmazzo in the province of Cuneo, Piedmont: a simple and authentic event, deeply rooted in local life and dedicated especially to the little ones.

A community celebration

The event is organized by the Parish in collaboration with the Municipality of Borgo San Dalmazzo, with the invaluable support of volunteers and numerous local associations. It is a concrete example of civic cooperation that, year after year, provides the town with an afternoon of celebration and participation. The square fills with children in costume, accompanied by parents and grandparents, in an atmosphere of enthusiasm that engages all generations.

Entertainment, music, and costumes

The afternoon program includes entertainment, dancing, and music, as well as face painting and a snack offered to all participants. There is also a performance by an artist to entertain both young and old, while the costume contest for the most beautiful and fun outfits is one of the most anticipated moments of the day. The creativity of the costumes and the ingenuity of the allegorical floats built by volunteers complete the picture of a cheerful and inclusive festival.

Piedmontese Carnival tradition

As in many towns in the Cuneo area, the Carnival in Borgo San Dalmazzo retains the genuine character of a village festival, far from large-scale tourist events but rich in human warmth. It is an opportunity to gather in the square, rediscover local popular traditions, and share a moment of lightheartedness before Lent.
