The Italian sparkling wine festival in Ciociaria

Established in 2017, Bollicine in Veroli has quickly become one of the most anticipated food and wine events in lower Lazio. For one September evening, the historic center of Veroli — one of the most beautiful villages in the Ciociaria region, in the province of Frosinone — turns into a vast, spread-out tasting venue dedicated to Italian sparkling wine, featuring over 100 labels from more than 90 producers from across the peninsula.

A tasting journey through cloisters and squares

The event's success lies in its proven formula: tastings are distributed across five monumental areas of the village, blending the pleasure of a fine glass with the discovery of Veroli's historical heritage:

• Sant'Agostino Cloister
• Piazza Duomo, at the foot of the Cathedral of Sant'Andrea
• Santa Salome Cloister
• Vescovado Terrace, overlooking the valley
• Piazza Palestrina

At each station, visitors can sample sparkling wines accompanied by insights from sommeliers of the Fondazione Italiana Sommelier – Lazio Delegation, who curate the selection: strictly Metodo Classico, ranging from Italy's most renowned production areas to emerging and alternative regions.

Guided tasting and city tour

Alongside the tasting stands, the event offers a more exclusive experience: an itinerant guided tasting that combines a historical tour of the city with six stops at as many monumental locations. Each stop features a Metodo Classico sparkling wine, narrated by a sommelier and a tour guide. It is a unique way to discover Veroli, a city of Hernician origins rich in churches, cloisters, and medieval alleys.

Gastronomy and live music

The sparkling wines are paired with numerous gourmet and traditional culinary offerings, both sweet and savory: buffalo mozzarella, cheeses, fried pizza, sandwiches, and artisanal pastries, featuring typical Ciociaria products. The evening's soundtrack is provided by live music echoing through the squares of the historic center from 6 PM until midnight.

An event by the Municipality of Veroli and the Lazio Region

Bollicine in Veroli is organized by the Fondazione Italiana Sommelier in partnership with the Pro Loco of Veroli and the Municipality of Veroli, with the patronage of the Lazio Region and the Province of Frosinone. The event is part of the municipal summer calendar «Veroli Estate» and serves as an excellent showcase for Italian oenological excellence, attracting enthusiasts and curious visitors from across Lazio and beyond. The seventh edition, in September 2025, confirmed the event's steady growth, establishing it as a benchmark for sparkling wine lovers in Central Italy.
