About Biofioricola

Biofioricola is the historic spring event in Pelago, in the province of Florence, dedicated to the world of floriculture, local crafts, and the typical products of the Valdisieve region. For an entire weekend, the village's historic center transforms into a sprawling trail of flowers, plants, markets, workshops, food and wine tastings, live music, and family activities. A well-established fixture in the Tuscan events calendar, it perfectly blends beauty, tradition, and innovation, featuring over 60 exhibitors from across the region.

Biofioricola, spring in bloom in Pelago

Biofioricola is the event that brings the historic center of Pelago to life every spring. Located in the Valdisieve area in the province of Florence, in the heart of Tuscany, this festival is promoted by the Municipality of Pelago and sponsored by the Tuscany Region. It celebrates the world of floriculture, local craftsmanship, and the region's food and wine excellence. For two days, the squares and streets of the medieval village, starting from Piazza Lorenzo Ghiberti, become a vast open-air path filled with colors, scents, and flavors.

A sprawling trail of flowers, crafts, and flavors

The heart of the event lies in the stalls of the floriculturists, who bring ornamental plants, flowers, aromatic herbs, and garden inspiration to Pelago. Alongside them, artisans and local producers showcase their work, with over sixty selected exhibitors from all over Tuscany offering traditional crafts, handmade goods, and typical Valdisieve products. Biofioricola is also a unique opportunity to discover an authentic village, far from the main tourist circuits, nestled in the hills that separate Florence from the Casentino valley.

Music, tastings, and activities for everyone

The program weaves together children's workshops, adult workshops, exhibitions, art installations, wine and local product tastings, live cooking shows with prominent guests, guided walks, garden yoga, and roving music. The event is designed for all ages, with moments of entertainment, culture, and conviviality that enliven the village from morning until night.

A tradition looking to the future

Reaching its twentieth edition in 2025, Biofioricola has renewed its visual identity and design in recent years, transforming into an ambitious event that combines tradition and innovation. The festival has become a showcase for promoting floriculture, craftsmanship, and typical Valdisieve products, attracting visitors from across the province of Florence and beyond. Admission is free, and a free shuttle service connects the village to the Pontassieve train station, making the event easily accessible by public transport.
