Five days of meetings on anti-mafia culture across Caselette, Alpignano, and Almese
The Biennale of Legality is a biennial event that makes the culture of legality and the memory of mafia victims its guiding thread. Established in 2024, the event is organized by the Associazione Calabresi per la Legalità ODV and unfolds as a widespread event across several municipalities in the lower Susa Valley, in the Province of Turin: Caselette, Alpignano, and Almese, with stops that have also included Turin and Pianezza over the years.
For the Municipality of Caselette, in Piedmont, the Biennale represents an appointment of strong civil value, capable of uniting schools, local administrations, associations, and citizens around the themes of anti-mafia, rights, and collective responsibility.
In Caselette, events are concentrated in two symbolic locations. The first is the Sala 150 of the Municipal Library, on Strada Contessa, which hosts meetings and testimonies dedicated to the duty of memory and the right to truth. The second is the Scala della Legalità in Piazza Cays, where local school students, the Youth Municipal Council, and local mayors host moments of public reflection during the days of the Day of Memory and Commitment.
The program brings together family members of mafia victims, journalists, magistrates, and institutional representatives. In its editions, the Biennale has hosted figures such as the relatives of Pio La Torre, Peppino Impastato, Placido Rizzotto, and Lea Garofalo, as well as reporters, parliamentarians, and members of civil society committed to the front of legality.
All appointments of the Biennale of Legality are free and open to the public, subject to availability. The initiative is held under the patronage of the Piedmont Region, the Metropolitan City of Turin, and the involved municipalities, confirming the territorial roots of a project that intends to make legality a daily and shared practice.
The second edition of the Biennale of Legality enlivened the lower Susa Valley area from March 18th to 22nd, 2026, under the patronage of the Piedmont Region, the Metropolitan City of Turin, and the involved municipalities. The program brought together family members of mafia victims, journalists, and institutional representatives.
In Caselette, on Friday, March 20th at 6:00 PM, the Sala 150 of the Municipal Library hosted the meeting "The duty of memory and the right to truth" with reporter Antonio Vassallo, one of the first photographers to arrive in Capaci after the massacre. Also on March 20th, at the Scala della Legalità in Piazza Cays, school students, the Youth Municipal Council, and local mayors hosted a commemorative moment.
Among the guests of the days: Franco La Torre, Luisa Impastato, Marisa Garofalo, Angelo Rizzotto, and Senator Giuseppe Lumia. All events were free and open to the public.
In Caselette (TO), events are held in the Sala 150 of the Municipal Library (Strada Contessa) and at the Scala della Legalità in Piazza Cays. The event is widespread: other appointments take place in Alpignano and Almese.
Caselette is located in the lower Susa Valley, west of Turin. By car, it can be reached via the SS24 or the A32 Turin-Bardonecchia motorway (Avigliana exit). By train, the nearest stations are those on the Turin-Modane line.
All meetings are free and do not require reservations, subject to availability.
