Site-specific commissions within the historic halls of the Castello di Rivoli
Inserzioni is the curatorial project that has been bringing the Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art to life since 2025, in the town of Rivoli, Piedmont. Every six months, the program invites international artists to engage with the historic rooms of this Savoyard residence—usually dedicated to the permanent collection—through site-specific commissions designed for these unique spaces. The guiding concept is that of the graft: new works take root in the museum's architectural and historical fabric, establishing a dialogue with the building's inherent incompleteness and the art narratives housed within its walls.
Curated by Francesco Manacorda, the second edition is open from March 27 to August 23, 2026, on the first and second floors of the Castello's Manica. It brings together three distinct voices from the international scene:
Inserzioni debuted in 2025 with Guglielmo Castelli, Oscar Murillo, and Lydia Ourahmane, reviving the spirit of Ouverture, the inaugural initiative of Rudi Fuchs's directorship in the 1980s. The flexible format, renewed every six months, aims to enrich the representation of movements, figures, and geographies less explored in the museum's path. A third edition is already announced for the period between September 2026 and February 2027.
Housed in a monumental, unfinished Savoyard residence, the Castello di Rivoli has been one of Europe's most important contemporary art museums since 1984 and a cornerstone of Piedmont's art scene, alongside the GAM in Turin and the city's network of museums. Inserzioni allows for a re-reading of the permanent collection in a new light, making the Castello a place where the history of recent art is never a fixed story, but an open dialogue with the present.
The second edition of Inserzioni (March 27 – August 23, 2026) unfolds on the first and second floors of the Manica of the Castello di Rivoli. Gabriel Chaile reinterprets the medieval well with an anthropomorphic clay figure, straddling historical diorama and science fiction; Lonnie Holley creates assemblages of burnt wood, metal, and everyday objects for the Sala dei Continenti on the theme of memory; Huda Takriti presents video installations and wall works exploring post-war narratives and decolonization processes. The project is curated by Francesco Manacorda.
