Minor antiques, collectibles, and local flavors in the heart of Rivarolo Canavese
The Biautagambe Market is one of the most deep-rooted traditions in Rivarolo Canavese, a town in the Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont. Its name, in the Piedmontese dialect, plays on the idea of people wandering around to "stretch their legs" among the stalls: a slow stroll through thousands of objects from the past, in search of a bargain, a rare find, or simply a memory brought back to life. Since 1985, the event has enlivened the historic center twice a year, becoming a landmark for antique and collectible enthusiasts throughout the Canavese area.
The heart of the market is dedicated to minor antiques, collectibles, and vintage and second-hand goods: furniture and household items from bygone days, books and prints, coins, postcards, ceramics, farm tools, records, and small curiosities. Alongside this historical section, there is a special area reserved for the artistic and personal creations of the exhibitors, where craftsmanship and imagination find their place next to vintage items.
On the same days, the Mërcà dla piassa del buro takes place in the square, a market dedicated to typical products and the food and wine excellence of the province of Turin. Producers from the 'Paniere' (a basket of typical products) and members of the 'Campagna Amica' network offer cheeses, cured meats, honey, preserves, and Canavese specialties for sale and tasting. It is the perfect opportunity to combine the hunt for vintage treasures with the pleasure of fine Piedmontese dining.
Exhibitors set up along the streets and alleys of the pedestrianized center—Via Ivrea and the side roads of Corso Torino and Corso Indipendenza—turning Rivarolo into an open-air living room. In the afternoon, local shops also remain open, extending the festive atmosphere between commerce, tradition, and social life. Carefully organized by the Pro Loco of Rivarolo Canavese, the Biautagambe Market is much more than a market: it is an identity-defining event that is part of the community's emotional calendar.
The 2026 edition, the 80th, marked an important milestone for the Biautagambe Market. Adverse weather forecasts did not discourage exhibitors and visitors: the organizers repositioned the stalls under the porticoes of Via Ivrea, sheltered from the rain, ensuring the day proceeded smoothly.
As per tradition, alongside minor antiques, collectibles, and vintage goods, producers from the 'Paniere' of typical products and members of 'Campagna Amica' were present with the Mërcà dla piassa del buro. The 2026 edition was dedicated to the church of San Biagio in the hamlet of Obiano, an 18th-century building.
Due to bad weather, the stalls were sheltered under the porticoes of Via Ivrea. Edition dedicated to the church of San Biagio in the hamlet of Obiano.
