Seven nights of gastronomy, music, and tradition in the village of Ceretti, Front
Every year at the end of July, the small village of Ceretti, in the municipality of Front (Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont), transforms into the stage for one of the most beloved festivals in the lower Canavese area. The Ceretti Potato Festival, held alongside the patronal feast of San Dumine (Saint Dominic, in the local Piedmontese dialect), fills the village with aromas, music, and joy for seven consecutive nights.
The true queen of the event is the Ceretti potato, a local zero-mile product grown in the fields surrounding the village. In the festival kitchens, it becomes the key ingredient for a long list of traditional Piedmontese dishes:
The food stand opens every evening at 7:30 PM in a large covered structure with approximately 1,500 seats, ensuring the festival goes on even in case of rain.
Each evening offers a different musical theme, ranging from pop and rock to 90s hits, ballroom dance orchestras, and DJ sets. Over the years, the stage has hosted groups and tribute bands such as the Shary Band, the Millennium '90 format, the 883 tribute band Megamax, the Explosion Band, the Divina Band, the Italian Orchestra of Gianmarco Bagutti, and the Pietro Galassi Orchestra. The event also features themed nights, entertainment, and a dance floor.
Alongside the food and music, the festival offers moments of sport and community: a running race, games for children, and the spectacular crowning of Miss Potato. The religious component remains central, with celebrations in honor of San Dumine (Saint Dominic), including masses and processions that mark the days of the patronal feast.
Organized with dedication by the Pro Loco Ceretti under the patronage of the Municipality of Front, the Potato Festival is a prime example of a genuine local celebration, where the promotion of local products meets the joy of gathering together. An unmissable event of the Canavese summer, capable of attracting visitors from across the province of Turin.
