A festival named after the town

The Bianca Monticellana Goat Festival takes place every summer in Monte San Biagio, in the province of Latina, in the southern Lazio region. The event's name tells the whole story: the Bianca Monticellana is a native goat breed named after Monticelli, the town's original name until 1862. Raised on the Aurunci Mountains and the Ausoni Mountains, straddling the provinces of Latina and Frosinone, it is now one of the most iconic livestock breeds of lower Lazio, and it is to this goat that the town dedicates its most delicious festival.

Where it takes place: Vallemarina

The heart of the event is the village of Vallemarina, specifically Piazza Padre Biagio, which transforms into a large gastronomic village with stalls, long tables, a stage, and a performance area. The area is served by ample parking and is easily accessible from neighboring towns: Fondi, Terracina, Sperlonga, and the entire Pontine coast are just a few minutes' drive away, making the festival a popular evening stop in the middle of the summer season.

Goat-based cuisine

The culinary offerings are the true highlight of the evening. The stalls open in the late afternoon, serving traditional Aurunci peasant dishes prepared with meat and milk from the local breed:

Alongside the food, the festival builds a program of entertainment every year that keeps the square alive until late at night: opening DJ sets, live concerts by local bands and artists, folk music and dancing, as well as the flag-wavers and drummers show, which is very popular with families. The atmosphere is typical of the village festivals of lower Lazio: free admission, affordable prices, a crowd of all ages, and strong local community participation.

Who organizes it

The event is promoted by the Next Gen Association, a local organization in Vallemarina active throughout the year, with the patronage of the Municipality of Monte San Biagio; the same association manages other traditional events in the local calendar, such as the Focaraccio di San Giuseppe in the spring.
