Three days of jazz among the fortresses and cellars of the Balcony of Romagna
The Bertinoro Drinkin' Jazz Festival is one of the most characteristic summer music events in the province of Forlì-Cesena. It takes place in Bertinoro, the renowned village known as the Balcony of Romagna for its views stretching from the hills to the Adriatic Sea, in Emilia-Romagna. The festival's concept is simple and winning: to bring great jazz out of concert halls and into the squares, fortresses, and cellars of the historic center, accompanying every note with a glass of wine and the authentic flavors of the region.
Concerts are held in some of the most evocative locations in the Municipality of Bertinoro: the Anfiteatro della Rocca Vescovile (Amphitheater of the Bishop's Fortress), with its panoramic view, the intimate Giardino del Revellino (Revellino Garden), the central Piazza della Libertà (Liberty Square), and, outside the center, the Santuario della Madonna delle Grazie (Sanctuary of Our Lady of Graces) in Casticciano. This choice of a widespread stage allows the public to discover the village by walking from one concert to another, experiencing Bertinoro in all its nuances.
The festival is not just about music. The term Drinkin' indeed recalls Bertinoro's strong winemaking tradition, home to Sangiovese and Albana wines. Numerous side activities revolve around the concerts:
Throughout its editions, the Drinkin' Jazz Festival has hosted leading musicians from the Italian jazz scene, alongside new talents and local ensembles like the Power Band of Forlì. The program alternates original projects, tributes to great jazz masters, and unique proposals, with evening concerts in the amphitheater and afternoon or morning events in more intimate settings. It's an opportunity to listen to good live music in a relaxed setting with stunning scenic beauty.
Included in the summer events calendar for Bertinoro and Romagna, the festival attracts jazz enthusiasts as well as those seeking a complete experience of music, food and wine, and atmosphere. The combination of free and paid concerts, historic settings, and wine hospitality makes it an event suitable for both connoisseurs and families and tourists visiting the heart of the province of Forlì-Cesena.
The fifth edition of the festival animates Bertinoro from June 19th to 21st, 2026 with a high-level program spread across the symbolic locations of the village. It kicks off on Friday, June 19th at 9:40 PM at the Anfiteatro della Rocca Vescovile with the Flavio Boltro 4tet and the "Electric Miles" project, a tribute to Miles Davis's electric repertoire (Flavio Boltro on trumpet, Fabio Giachino on piano and keyboards, Pippo Matino on bass, Marco Frattini on drums).
Saturday, June 20th features a double bill: at 7:00 PM in the Giardino del Revellino, Alessandro Lanzoni's "Organ – Solo" project, blending Hammond organ, synths, and loop station; at 9:45 PM in Piazza della Libertà, the Power Band from Forlì, active since 2003.
Sunday, June 21st concludes in style: at 11:15 AM, the Arabella Rustico Duo at the Santuario della Madonna delle Grazie in Casticciano, and at 9:00 PM, the grand finale at the Anfiteatro della Rocca Vescovile with Mario Venuti and Tony Canto in their "Mai come ieri Tour", a dialogue between two voices and two guitars.
Around the concerts, as is tradition, there will be tastings in the urban cellars, musical walks, and typical Romagna snacks.
Bertinoro can be reached by car from the Cesena Nord exit (A14), continuing along the Via Emilia. By train, the nearest stations are Forlì and Cesena, which are then connected to Bertinoro by bus. The nearest airport is Forlì, followed by Rimini and Bologna.
