Roero Nebbiolo and the region's great red wines available for tasting in Canale
Every spring, the Enoteca Regionale del Roero, located in the historic center of Canale (Cuneo province, Piedmont), shines a spotlight on the red wine that bears the name of these hills. Benvenuto Roero — Tasting at the Enoteca is the event that celebrates Roero Nebbiolo and its most noble expressions, from Roero DOCG to Roero Riserva, in a grand walk-around tasting hosted in the halls of Via Roma 57.
The formula is simple and direct: a selection of local labels, organized by vintage, to be savored at your own pace. The 2026 edition highlighted new vintages and a special section reserved for Roero Riserva, allowing visitors to grasp the different interpretations of the denomination, the most recent vintages, and the aging periods chosen by the producers. It is a journey that reveals how Nebbiolo, grown on the sandy soils of Roero, expresses finesse, floral aromas, and an elegant drinkability.
Participants can also take advantage of the Enoteca's extensive permanent selection, which brings together wines from over 65 Roero producers, with a special discount on purchases during the event. It is the ideal opportunity to take home a bottle discovered at the tasting table and to engage directly with the people who make these wines.
Canale is the oenological capital of Roero, the hilly area north of the Tanaro river which, together with the Langhe and Monferrato, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here, Nebbiolo coexists with the famous Roero Arneis, the region's great white wine celebrated in spring with the sister event Benvenuto Arneis. Visiting the Enoteca Regionale means immersing yourself in a landscape of vineyards, rocky cliffs, and villages, just a few kilometers from Alba and the Langhe.
For the 2026 edition, Benvenuto Roero doubled in size, becoming a two-day event in the heart of Canale. The absolute star was Roero Nebbiolo, presented as Roero DOCG and Roero Riserva: a selection of labels organized by vintage to compare the different harvests and aging styles of the producers. In particular, the new vintages were highlighted, with a special focus on the most recent interpretations of the denomination.
Alongside the tasting table, visitors were able to discover the Enoteca's permanent selection, featuring wines from over 65 Roero producers, with a 10% discount on purchases during the event.
