Floats, masks, and the flour battle at the gates of Turin
The Beinasco Carnival is one of the most cherished events in the Municipality of Beinasco, located on the southern outskirts of Turin, in Piedmont. Organized by the Pro Loco of Beinasco in collaboration with the local council, it attracts thousands of residents and visitors from across the Turin area every year. It is an authentic village festival where carnival tradition blends with the community spirit of the entire town.
The event takes place over two distinct days in two symbolic locations. The first day is held in the Borgaretto district, with the investiture ceremony of the characters in Piazza Kennedy and the grand parade of allegorical floats through the streets. The second day moves to the center of Beinasco, in Piazza Alfieri, featuring shows, awards ceremonies, and the famous flour battle.
The heart of the festival is the allegorical floats, carefully crafted by local groups and associations, as well as participants from other municipalities in Piedmont. They parade accompanied by costumed characters, masked groups, and music, in an explosion of color and confetti. There is also an awards ceremony for the most beautiful and original masks, which involves both adults and children.
The Beinasco Carnival pays great attention to children and families. Among the most anticipated events are the Carnival Circus, the dance and circus show that enlivens Piazza Alfieri, the funfair for children in Borgaretto, and numerous entertainment moments along the parade routes. The festivities conclude with the flour battle, a playful and unmissable moment of local tradition.
During the festival, the Pro Loco of Beinasco sets up food stalls with typical carnival specialties, from sweet fritters to traditional Piedmontese dishes. It is a great opportunity to enjoy local flavors in good company, amidst a festive atmosphere that involves the entire Province of Turin.
The 2026 edition, the forty-ninth, brought Beinasco to life for an entire weekend in February. On Saturday the 21st, the Carnival kicked off in Borgaretto, while on Sunday the 22nd, the festivities moved to Piazza Alfieri in the city center, featuring shows and the customary concluding flour battle.
Beinasco is located in the southern suburbs of Turin and is easily accessible by car via the Turin ring road (Beinasco exit). By train, you can arrive at the Turin station and continue with GTT public transport towards Beinasco and the Borgaretto district.
The first day is held in Borgaretto (Piazza Kennedy and surrounding streets), and the second in Piazza Alfieri in Beinasco.
Admission to all Beinasco Carnival events is free. Food stalls and funfair rides require payment.
The event is suitable for all ages and is particularly designed for families. Traffic changes are expected during the parade: it is best to reach the area on foot or park in the surrounding areas.
