The patronal feast of Monastero di Vasco, in the heart of the Monregalese area
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Every year in September, Monastero di Vasco celebrates its patronal feast in honor of the Beata Madonna del Buon Consiglio. We are in the Monregalese, one of the most evocative areas of the Province of Cuneo, in Piedmont: a land of hills, woods, and small villages where patronal feasts remain the most important moment of community life. Here, popular devotion and a sense of belonging to the town merge into a celebration that the community looks forward to all year long.
The very name of the town tells its story: Monastero di Vasco owes its origin to an ancient Benedictine monastery, no longer in existence today, from which the village took its name. The religious heart of the town is the parish church of Santi Pietro e Paolo, a Baroque building constructed between 1764 and 1776 based on the design of the architect Benedetto Alfieri, who also worked for the Savoy court in Turin. Inside, it preserves polychrome marble altars, a 17th-century altarpiece depicting the Virgin, the Child, and Saints Peter and Paul, and paintings by the Toscano brothers: a heritage that testifies to the care with which this small community has always guarded its places of faith.
The festival is dedicated to the Madonna del Buon Consiglio, a Marian figure much loved in the Catholic world, and traditionally falls at the beginning of September, near the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (September 8th). The core of the festivities is the religious dimension, with the solemn Holy Mass and the community's moments of prayer. However, as is customary in Piedmontese patronal feasts, a village festival component organized by the local Pro Loco develops around the sacred rite: opportunities for meeting, conviviality, and the promotion of the rural culture that is the hallmark of Monastero di Vasco.
Monastero di Vasco is an active community that, beyond the patronal feast, offers various events throughout the year, starting with the historic May Fair with the "A donkey for a friend" event, dedicated to rural tradition and the donkey as a symbol of the territory's identity. Participating in the Beata Madonna del Buon Consiglio festival means coming into contact with the most authentic side of the Monregalese, far from the major tourist flows, in a village where traditions are still a living and shared reality.
The 2026 edition of the patronal feast of Monastero di Vasco is scheduled for September 8, 2026, a date that coincides with the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the liturgical calendar.
At the moment, no detailed official program has been published by the Municipality or the parish: the celebration will likely follow the traditional structure of Piedmontese patronal feasts, with the solemn Holy Mass in honor of the Madonna del Buon Consiglio and moments of conviviality organized by the Pro Loco. It is recommended to verify dates and the program with the Municipality of Monastero di Vasco before the event.
