Costumed parade, hand-pulled floats, and a night of music and street food in the Monregalese area
Every July, there is an event that flips the calendar and brings Carnival right into the heart of summer: it is the Bastia Mondovì Summer Carnival, held in a small town in the province of Cuneo, overlooking the Monregalese plains in Piedmont. Since its inception in 2021, the event has grown to become one of the most popular and eagerly awaited summer festivals in the region, drawing thousands of participants in costume.
The concept is as simple as it is infectious: experiencing the playful, irreverent spirit of Carnival under the July sun, complete with the colors, confetti, and energy typically reserved for winter. The result is a day of pure celebration that turns the town streets into an explosion of music, costumes, and joy.
The heart of the event is the costumed parade that winds through the historic center of Bastia Mondovì in the afternoon. Masked groups march while pulling their own floats by hand—built with imagination and a sense of irony. There are no large mechanized floats here, but rather handcrafted sets pushed by sheer muscle power, giving the Carnival its most authentic and participatory feel. The local response is impressive: in the 2024 edition, nearly 900 young people took part in the parade, and the evening party gathered up to 3,000 people at the sports complex.
Following the parade, the most creative groups are honored in a special ceremony that celebrates the participants' effort and imagination. As dusk falls, the festivities shift to the sports complex, where the real evening highlight begins: parties, DJ sets with special guests, street food, and cocktails keep the night alive until late. Over the years, the Summer Carnival has also distinguished itself by the quality of its musical lineup, bringing both Italian and international artists to the stage.
Organized by the Pro Loco of Bastia Mondovì in collaboration with the Villero Beach group, the Summer Carnival is the perfect example of how a small community in the Cuneo area can create a major draw, blending carnival tradition, youthful fun, and street gastronomy. For those visiting the Langhe and Monregalese regions in summer, it is an unmissable opportunity to discover an unexpected and festive side of Piedmont.
On Saturday, July 11, 2026, Bastia Mondovì will once again dress up for the sixth edition of its Summer Carnival. The format that has ensured the event's success is confirmed: in the afternoon, the costumed parade of groups with their whimsical hand-pulled floats along the streets of the historic center, followed by the awards ceremony for the most creative groups; in the evening, the party at the sports complex with DJ sets, street food, and cocktails.
The organizers announced the edition with enthusiasm on social media («Here we go again»), but at the moment, the names of the musical guests have not yet been revealed. Over the years, the Summer Carnival has stood out for the quality of its musical offerings, featuring artists from the Italian and international scene: anticipation is therefore growing to discover the full program of the sixth edition.
The detailed program and musical line-up for the sixth edition have not yet been published by the organizers. Based on the established format of previous editions, the day is structured as follows:
The names of the musical guests will be announced in the weeks leading up to the event on the social media channels of Villero Beach and the Pro Loco of Bastia Mondovì.
The Summer Carnival traditionally takes place on a Saturday in July. The 2026 edition is scheduled for Saturday, July 11, 2026.
