Swap, reuse, and recycle in the historic center of Rosciano
In the historic center of Rosciano, a small town in the province of Pescara overlooking the Pescara Valley, the Barter Fair returns: an event that turns the village's streets and squares into a lively exchange market, where no money circulates, only objects that change owners and find a new lease on life.
The idea is as simple as it is relevant: what is no longer used by one person can become a small treasure for another. The entire event revolves around this principle, designed as a popular festival dedicated to reuse and the circular economy, with a convivial spirit that perfectly matches the intimate atmosphere of this Abruzzo historic center.
During the fair, participants display a wide variety of items, provided they are in good condition and ready for a second life. Among the stalls, you can find:
It is not just about swapping: the day is also an opportunity to repair, recycle, and donate, rediscovering the value of things and the pleasure of giving them a new chance.
The event is organized by Pro Loco Rosciano ETS as part of the "Revitalizing the historic center of Rosciano" project, with the support of the Fondazione Pescarabruzzo and the patronage of the Municipality of Rosciano. The goal goes beyond the single event: to bring people, movement, and life into the streets of the ancient core, enhancing a heritage of stone houses, views, and memories that might otherwise remain silent.
The Barter Fair thus becomes a moment of sociality and community, where residents and visitors meet to stroll among the stalls, chat, discover curious objects, and share the idea that sustainability can also be fun.
Participation, both as exhibitors and visitors, is free and open to all: simply consult the regulations published on the Pro Loco website to take part in the exchange. In case of bad weather, the initiative may be canceled, as it is an outdoor event held in the village streets.
Included in the spring calendar of Rosciano and Abruzzo, the Barter Fair is the perfect opportunity to combine a trip to an authentic village in the Pescara hinterland with the rediscovery of a different, slower, and more conscious way of valuing things.
The 2026 edition of the Barter Fair was held over two Sundays in March, the 15th and 29th, in the afternoon from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the historic center of Rosciano. Included in the "Revitalizing the historic center of Rosciano 2026" project by Pro Loco Rosciano ETS, with the support of the Fondazione Pescarabruzzo and the patronage of the Municipality, the event invited citizens and visitors to swap, reuse, and recycle objects of all kinds. Exhibitors, both large and small, brought technology, vintage cameras, vinyls, comics, games, clothing, furniture, and tools to the stalls, in a festive atmosphere dedicated to the circular economy and the pleasure of giving new life to things.
Rosciano is located in the hinterland of the province of Pescara, in the Pescara Valley. By car, it can be reached from the A25 motorway (exits towards Chieti-Pescara) and from the provincial roads of the valley; the event takes place in the historic center of the village.
The fair is held in the afternoon, approximately from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Admission and exhibiting are free and open to everyone.
To participate as an exhibitor, it is recommended to consult the regulations on the Pro Loco Rosciano website and contact the organization via email or social media channels. In case of bad weather, the event may be canceled.
