The village fills with notes on the summer solstice night
The Music Festival of Bagnara di Romagna is one of the most beloved summer events in the small municipality in the Province of Ravenna, in Emilia-Romagna. Every year, on the day of the summer solstice (June 21st), the medieval village transforms into a large open-air stage, part of the national event promoted in Italy by AIPFM. Bagnara is one of the three locations in Bassa Romagna that participate in the event, along with Bagnacavallo and Lugo.
The formula is what makes this festival special: no stages are set up within the village. Concerts spring up directly in the squares, gardens, courtyards, and along the streets of the historic center, amidst the people. This is what makes the Bagnara Music Festival a truly popular and local event, where the public strolls from one note to another under the shadow of the Rocca Sforzesca, the 15th-century fortress of the Riario-Sforza family that dominates the town.
The program ranges across different genres and atmospheres: pop, disco music, blues, folk songs, singer-songwriter music, and DJ sets. It features everything from young local bands to more established artists, in a continuous alternation that enlivens the village from 6:30 PM until late evening. Music is only part of the festival: along the streets, there are food stalls, street food, aperitifs, and open restaurants, while the Rocca Sforzesca and the Pietro Mascagni Museum open their doors to visitors in the afternoon.
In Bagnara, the Music Festival intertwines with the Romantic Night of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, the initiative that every year, on the night of the solstice, lights up Italian villages with intimate and evocative atmospheres. Special dinners, soft lighting, and music make this evening a perfect opportunity to discover one of Romagna's best-preserved historic centers.
Admission to the concerts is free. The event is organized by the Municipality of Bagnara di Romagna with the support of local associations and organizations—including Circolo Arci Mandela, the Gives association, the Pro Loco, and Bagnara Eventi—and with the tourism coordination of the Union of Municipalities of Bassa Romagna.
The 32nd edition of the Music Festival will take place in Bagnara di Romagna on June 21, 2026, on the summer solstice. The national theme for this edition is 'The Voice of Places', dedicated to choirs and the beauty of the territory's uniqueness. Bagnara is one of the three locations for the event in Bassa Romagna, along with Bagnacavallo and Lugo.
Once again this year, concerts will liven up the squares, gardens, and streets of the village from 6:30 PM until late evening, in a widespread and free format that intertwines with the Romantic Night of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy.
The detailed program with artists and concert times for the 2026 edition will be announced in the weeks preceding the event, as is traditionally done for the Bagnara Music Festival.
The usual structure includes a series of widespread concerts that, starting at 6:30 PM, simultaneously animate squares, gardens, courtyards, and streets of the historic center, without any stages set up within the village. Genres range from pop, disco, blues, folk songs, and singer-songwriter music to DJ sets, with dozens of artists and bands performing until late evening. Along the streets, there are street food stalls, aperitifs, and open restaurants.
The theme for the 2026 edition, 'The Voice of Places', emphasizes choirs and singing as an expression of the territory.
