The Autumn Festival in Presicce-Acquarica

As the days grow shorter and the colors of Salento take on warmer hues, the village of Presicce prepares for its Autumn Festival, the event through which the Pro Loco Presicce APS welcomes the change of season. The event takes place in the municipality of Presicce-Acquarica, in the province of Lecce, in the heart of lower Salento in Puglia, and for one day transforms the streets and squares of the historic center into a large festive space dedicated to the flavors and scents of autumn.

"Amidst scents and flavors"

The common thread of the festival, summarized in the slogan "amidst scents and flavors," is the cuisine of the Salento peasant tradition and the promotion of typical seasonal products. Among the stands set up by volunteers, visitors can stroll while following the aromas of autumn dishes, rediscover recipes linked to the rural civilization of the Capo di Leuca, and experience the simple and convivial atmosphere of village festivals, where taste intertwines with social life and the rediscovery of the territory's roots.

Presicce, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy

The setting for the Autumn Festival is one of the most evocative villages in Salento. Presicce is included among The Most Beautiful Villages in Italy and is known as the "city of oil": its underground holds the famous hypogeum oil mills, ancient mills carved into the rock where olive oil was produced for centuries. The town's living room is the scenic Piazza del Popolo, dominated by the spire dedicated to Saint Andrew, the community's patron saint. Since 2019, Presicce has been part, together with Acquarica del Capo, of the single municipality of Presicce-Acquarica, a territory rich in history, religious traditions, and gastronomic culture.

An event by Pro Loco Presicce

The Autumn Festival is organized by the Pro Loco Presicce APS, the local promotion association that enlivens the local calendar with events spread throughout the year. Like many events promoted by Salento's Pro Loco associations, the festival stems from the work of volunteers and aims to introduce visitors to the food and wine heritage and traditions of the village, while supporting the community's social life.
