Giuseppe Cederna weaves together words, poetry, and memory on the church square of Spigno Monferrato
On Monday, July 20, 2026, the church square of Spigno Monferrato, a small town in the province of Alessandria overlooking the Piedmontese Apennines, will host one of the most anticipated events of the Attraverso Festival. The star of the evening is Giuseppe Cederna, one of Italy's most beloved narrative theatre actors and writers, presenting his show "Maestri. Storie, poesia, incontri, illuminazioni".
Cederna crafts a narrative that blends words, poetry, and memory: a tribute to the mentors encountered throughout life, to the words that teach us to feel alive every day and rediscover our own humanity. He is not alone on stage: he is joined by Walter Porro on accordion and Nicola Testa on guitar, who weave live music into the thread of the story. The result is an intimate, poetic evening designed for a cozy space like a village church square, where the actor's voice dialogues with the silence of the hills.
The Spigno Monferrato performance is part of the 11th edition of Attraverso Festival, a series launched in 2016 that has become one of the main summer cultural events in lower Piedmont. Artistically directed by Paola Farinetti and Simona Ressico and organized by Hiroshima Mon Amour and Produzioni Fuorivia, the festival offers over forty events including theatre, music, meetings, and readings, spread across nearly thirty municipalities in the provinces of Alessandria, Asti, and Cuneo. From July 13 to September 18, 2026, villages, castles, squares, and viewpoints of the UNESCO territories of Langhe, Monferrato, and Roero become an open-air stage.
Spigno Monferrato is located in the Bormida Valley, at the extreme south of the province of Alessandria, in Piedmont: an ideal stop for those who want to experience the festival away from major urban centers, immersed in the quiet of the hills.
The Spigno Monferrato event is one of over forty events in the 11th edition of Attraverso Festival, spread across nearly thirty municipalities in the provinces of Alessandria, Asti, and Cuneo, covering the Langhe, Monferrato, Roero, and Piedmontese Apennine regions.
