The fiefdom of Groppoli had passed in 1606 from the Sale family to the Brignole, giving rise to the powerful Genoese dynasty of the Brignole Sale. The villa, protected by an imposing wall with four corner towers, is one of the most fascinating testaments to the Ligurian presence in the Tuscan Lunigiana and provides an ideal backdrop for an event that explicitly evokes its historical memory.
