The rainbow parade of the LGBTQIA+ community in Asti
Asti Pride is the event that paints the streets of Asti, in the heart of Piedmont, in rainbow colors every year. It is much more than just a parade: it is a political and festive march where the local LGBTQIA+ community, along with associations, collectives, and allies, takes to the streets to demand rights, dignity, and full self-determination.
The event is a grassroots initiative, organized by the Asti Pride Association and the local LGBTQIA+ community, and is entirely self-funded, without institutional sponsorship. This detail perfectly reflects the independent and militant spirit of the event.
Asti Pride has a unique feature that sets it apart in Piedmont: it alternates every year with the Langhe & Roero Pride in Alba. One year the rainbow tide fills Asti, and the following year it moves to the Langhe region. This relay helps keep the spotlight on the entire province of Asti and the neighboring province of Cuneo, building an increasingly solid network between the different local groups.
The heart of the day is the parade, a route of over two kilometers that starts from the city gardens and crosses the most iconic streets and squares of Asti, finally filling one of the main squares in the historic center. Amidst floats, flags, costumes, music, and slogans, thousands of people march together in a day that blends advocacy with celebration.
Asti Pride is not limited to the day of the parade: in the weeks leading up to it, a calendar of side events comes to life throughout the province, featuring meetings, book presentations, performances, workshops for children, and moments of discussion on topics such as civil rights, inclusion, neurodiversity, and combating discrimination.
Asti, already famous throughout Italy for its Palio and the great wines of Monferrato, shows its most open, inclusive, and contemporary face through Pride, confirming itself as a city capable of welcoming others and making its voice heard.
The fourth edition of Asti Pride takes place on Saturday, July 11, 2026, under the theme 'Rights to Happiness': a claim that, according to the organizers, demands happiness not as a private or abstract dimension, but as a right made possible by a structured body of civil and social rights.
The parade, 2.3 kilometers long and authorized by the police, crosses the historic center of Asti to Piazza San Secondo. The guest of honor for this edition is BigMama (Marianna Mammone), a rapper and singer-songwriter among the most well-known voices on the Italian scene. The parade day is preceded by a rich calendar of side events spread across the territory between May and July.
The 2026 edition takes place on Saturday, July 11, with the parade gathering starting at 4:00 PM.
