The patron saint's feast in the Asti hills of Villa San Secondo
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Saint Peter Patronal Festival is the most anticipated event of the year in Villa San Secondo, a small town of just under 400 inhabitants nestled in the hills of the Province of Asti, in Piedmont, between the Versa and Rilate valleys. Every year, around the feast of Saint Peter (June 29th, with celebrations extending over the weekends at the end of the month), the village gathers around its patron saint for a festival that blends religious devotion, popular tradition, and community spirit.
Organized with passion by the Pro Loco of Villa San Secondo and numerous volunteers, the festival is a time when the entire town comes together. The program alternates traditional Catholic religious rites—such as the solemn Holy Mass in honor of Saint Peter—with secular festivities, including food stalls, musical evenings, and activities for all ages. It is a village festival in the most genuine sense, where local recipes and the warm hospitality of the volunteers make all the difference.
Cuisine is one of the pillars of the festival. Under the municipal marquee, food stalls serve traditional Piedmontese and Asti dishes: appetizers, the essential agnolotti, grilled meats, sausages, as well as street food and desserts, all accompanied by beer and wines from the Monferrato hills. Evenings are enlivened by live music and DJ sets: from dance orchestras to disco bands playing the greatest hits from the 70s to today, admission to musical performances is traditionally free.
Visitors to Villa San Secondo during the festival can take the opportunity to walk to the famous Big Bench, reachable on foot from the town center: a beloved panoramic spot from which to admire the rolling hills of the Asti Monferrato. The patronal festival thus becomes an opportunity to discover an authentic and lesser-known corner of rural Piedmont.
Between the candlelit Dinner under the stars, the 'Leve' celebrations, aperitifs with the band, and dance evenings, the Saint Peter Patronal Festival represents the very identity of Villa San Secondo: a small but vibrant community that opens its doors every summer to residents and visitors to share its traditions.
The Saint Peter Patronal Festival in Villa San Secondo is also expected for 2026, with the patron saint's feast day marked for June 23, 2026, and festivities traditionally spread over the last weekends of the month.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition—musical evenings, food stalls, Dinner under the stars, and religious celebrations—will be announced by the Pro Loco of Villa San Secondo in the weeks preceding the festival. It is recommended to check dates and details on the official Pro Loco channels before planning your visit.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be published by the Pro Loco of Villa San Secondo closer to the event. Based on previous editions, the festival usually includes an opening evening with the Dinner under the stars, gastronomic evenings with typical Piedmontese dishes, live music and DJ sets with free admission, and the solemn Holy Mass in honor of Saint Peter with moments of community conviviality.
Villa San Secondo is located in the Province of Asti, Piedmont. By car, it can be reached from Asti (about 20 km) via the hilly roads of Monferrato; the nearest motorway exit is Asti Est on the A21 Turin-Piacenza. As there is no train station in the village, the reference station is Asti, from where you can continue by car or local connections.
The festivities are concentrated in the town center and at the municipal marquee, with Holy Mass celebrated in the parish church.
For the updated program and reservations at the food stalls, it is recommended to contact the Pro Loco of Villa San Secondo: tel. +39 0141 905609 or +39 347 0740708, email [email protected], and the Facebook page prolocovillasansecondo.
Access to the festival and musical performances is free; food and drinks at the stalls are for purchase.
