The grand autumn market through the streets of Asti's historic center
The Autumn Fair is one of the most anticipated commercial events in the city calendar of Asti, in the heart of Piedmont. Together with the Spring Fair and the historic Carolingian Fair, it is one of the three major fairs organized annually by the Municipality of Asti, winding through the streets and squares of the historic center. The Autumn Fair is traditionally held on the second Sunday of October, when the mild days and seasonal colors provide the perfect backdrop for a stroll among the stalls.
For an entire day, from dawn to dusk, the center of Asti transforms into a large open-air market. The stalls are spread along the city's main axes: Piazza Alfieri, Corso Alfieri, Viale alla Vittoria, Piazza della Libertร , and Corso Dante. It is a general fair that brings together licensed street vendors, hobbyists, and local agricultural producers.
The Autumn Fair has always been an occasion for celebration and socializing: for the people of Asti, it is the classic Sunday walk among the stalls, while for those arriving from the towns of the Province of Asti and the wider Monferrato region, it is the perfect excuse for a day in the city. Admission is completely free, and the atmosphere is that of a typical large Piedmontese popular fair, where commerce blends with social interaction and conviviality.
Visiting the Autumn Fair is also an excellent opportunity to discover Asti in one of its most evocative seasons. The city, a provincial capital in southeastern Piedmont, is famous for its wines, its Palio, and the historical heritage of its medieval center. In October, the surrounding territory experiences the harvest and truffle season, and a visit to the fair can easily be combined with exploring the Monferrato hills, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The Asti Autumn Fair 2026 is scheduled for Sunday, October 11, 2026, in keeping with the tradition that sets it on the second Sunday of October. As every year, the fair will enliven the city's historic center, from Piazza Alfieri to Corso Alfieri and up to Viale alla Vittoria and Corso Dante.
Several hundred exhibitors are expected, including street vendors, hobbyists, and agricultural producers, offering a wide range of goods from clothing to handicrafts, and from traditional products to curiosities. Details regarding the stall layout and traffic changes are usually communicated by the Municipality of Asti in the weeks leading up to the event.
