The gravel cycling tour on the white roads of the Tuscan Valtiberina
Asprevie - Anghiari Gravel Roads is a gravel cycling tour held every year in Anghiari, a charming medieval village in the Valtiberina area of the province of Arezzo, in eastern Tuscany. Organized by G.S. Fratres Dynamis Bike, the event invites amateur cyclists and enthusiasts to discover the region by riding on a mix of white roads, dirt tracks, and some paved sections, immersed in hills, forests, and ancient villages.
The format includes several routes of varying lengths and difficulty, allowing everyone to choose the challenge best suited to their legs: from the shorter route, designed for those new to gravel, to the long and demanding track that tests even the most trained cyclists with significant elevation gain. Gravel bikes and mountain bikes are allowed, including pedal-assisted e-bikes on certain routes, provided they have tires with a tread suitable for dirt roads.
Asprevie is not a timed point-to-point competition, but a day of sport, conviviality, and fun. Along the route, participants will find numerous refreshment points set up in the local hamlets and villages, offering coffee, sweets, savory snacks, cold cuts, and drinks. Upon arrival in the center of Anghiari, the event concludes with a convivial lunch featuring local specialties and music, in a festive atmosphere that involves the entire community.
Anghiari, listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, is famous for its history and the 1440 Battle of Anghiari, immortalized by Leonardo da Vinci. Cycling from its medieval walls means crossing a territory where nature, art, and tradition merge: the Tuscan Valtiberina, a borderland between Tuscany, Umbria, and the Marche, offers authentic rural landscapes, historic villages like Sansepolcro and Monterchi, and genuine gastronomy. Asprevie is also a way to promote this corner of Tuscany through sustainable cycle tourism.
The 2026 edition of Asprevie - Anghiari Gravel Roads confirmed the success of the event, leading participants to ride on the white roads of the Tuscan Valtiberina. The day, focused on sport and conviviality, offered three tracks of varying difficulty with start and finish in the village of Anghiari, in the province of Arezzo. Along the routes, cyclists found five refreshment points set up in the local villages, while a lunch based on local specialties and plenty of music awaited them at the finish line.
Five refueling points along the route, including Piazza Torre di Berta in Sansepolcro, Santa Fiora, the Pianettole area, the Padonchia locality (organized by the Pro Loco of Monterchi), and Le Quattro Vie, with coffee, sweets, savory snacks, cold cuts, and drinks.
Convivial lunch organized by Pro Anghiari with truffle and meat sauce tagliatelle, grilled pork, salad, desserts, and drinks, followed by music with Mea Dj.
Anghiari can be reached by car via the E45 (Sansepolcro exit) or the SS73. The nearest train station is in Sansepolcro, just a few kilometers away, which is connected to Anghiari by local buses.
Registration is done online on the official website www.asprevie.it. The entry fee includes the race pack, refreshments along the route, and the final lunch. Multiple routes of varying lengths and difficulty are available.
Gravel or mountain bike with tires of at least 30 mm width, mandatory helmet, clothing suitable for weather conditions, and a spare inner tube.
