Contemporary performing arts animate the historic center of Montefano
In 2026, the Art Festival celebrates its tenth edition and expands its traveling circuit to a new village in the Marche region: Montefano, in the province of Macerata. The festival, conceived and organized by the Whats Art APS association with the patronage of the Marche Region, has been a reference point for contemporary performing arts in central Italy for years and brings nationally and internationally selected companies to the territory each year through an open call for artists.
The Municipality of Montefano hosts the Art Festival on Friday, June 26, 2026, as part of the main circuit schedule, with a second special date on Saturday, July 25, 2026, also in the historic center. The squares and streets of the village host afternoon and evening performances that blend contemporary circus, street theater, dance, and live music, in line with the formula that has made the event recognizable. For the tenth edition, the artistic direction examined over five hundred proposals from artists from numerous countries around the world, from which the lineups for each stop are created.
The tenth edition unfolds across multiple cities in the region: in addition to Montefano, the 2026 circuit includes Porto Recanati, Numana, Grottammare, and Recanati, where the grand finale takes place with shows, concerts, street food, and the Art Festival Creative Market dedicated to creative crafts. The underlying idea is that of free, intergenerational, and cosmopolitan art appreciation: all performances are free admission and enhance the social role of art as a tool for meeting and community building.
In Montefano, the organization of the Art Festival is supported by the volunteer association La Rondinella, active since 2004 in promoting and producing shows in the area. The inclusion of the Macerata village in the circuit marks a further step in the festival's growth, as it continues to expand its network of host municipalities in the heart of the Marche region.
For its tenth edition, Art Festival includes Montefano in its traveling circuit through the Marche region. The dates dedicated to the village in the province of Macerata are Friday, June 26, 2026, and a special date on Saturday, July 25, 2026, both in the historic center.
The program features a blend of contemporary circus, street theater, dance, and live music, with companies selected by the artistic direction from over five hundred international proposals. The detailed lineup for Montefano's individual performances will be announced by the organization in the weeks preceding the event. Admission is free.
The detailed program for the Montefano stop (artists and times) will be published by the organization in the weeks preceding the dates of June 26 and July 25, 2026. The event typically features afternoon and evening performances of contemporary circus, street theater, dance, and live music.
