Art, culture, science and innovation in the village of Montecassiano
The MACSI Festival is the flagship cultural event of the summer in Montecassiano, a medieval village listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, in the province of Macerata. The acronym summarizes its soul: Montecassiano Arte Cultura Scienza Innovazione. It is a format designed to promote the town far beyond regional borders, fostering dialogue between a small center in the Marche and major figures from the entertainment, music, and cultural scenes.
What sets MACSI apart is its deliberately heterogeneous nature: in the span of just a few evenings, it moves from a concert to a comedy monologue, from scientific dissemination to philosophical reflection. It's a program that doesn't focus on a single genre but intertwines different languages to offer the audience a varied and high-quality proposal, always with an eye towards innovation.
The evenings take place in the most scenic locations of Montecassiano's historic center. The Cortile Le Clarisse, intimate and evocative, has become one of the most fascinating cultural spaces of the Marche summer, while Piazza Unitร d'Italia hosts the most anticipated events. The setting within the village walls is an integral part of the experience, thus combining culture with the discovery of local heritage.
MACSI's formula quickly won over the public in the Marche region, doubling attendance compared to its beginnings and confirming the success of a proposal that makes variety and free admission its strong points. The organization is handled by the Pro Loco of Montecassiano in collaboration with the municipal administration, as part of a summer program that also includes other historical events of the town.
For 2026, the MACSI Festival confirms its multidisciplinary formula with three free events in the setting of the Cortile Le Clarisse in Montecassiano, all starting at 9:00 PM. The review, organized by the Pro Loco in collaboration with the Municipality, once again blends music, comedy, and culture, bringing nationally renowned voices and protagonists to the Macerata village.
Montecassiano is located in the Macerata hinterland, a few kilometers from Macerata. By car, it can be reached from the SS77 Val di Chienti with the exit for Montecassiano; the nearest train station is Macerata, which is then connected by local buses.
The MACSI Festival 2026 evenings have free admission. For information and the updated program, please contact the Pro Loco and the Tourist Office of Montecassiano (tel. +39 0733 290483).
The shows are held in July, usually starting at 9:00 PM. It is advisable to arrive early to find a seat in the Cortile Le Clarisse.
