The sculpture and painting exhibition by Pro Loco Marthianisi in the heart of Marcianise
Every year, as Marcianise prepares for its September festivities, the Pro Loco Marthianisi APS opens the doors to its art exhibition: Art and Traditions, a collective show of sculpture and painting dedicated to local artists. It is a well-established appointment in the cultural life of the city, in the Province of Caserta, and one of the few moments of the year when the local public can meet those who paint and sculpt in the Terra di Lavoro region up close.
In 2026, the exhibition returns to the Palazzo della Cultura on Via Duomo, the historic building of the former Monte dei Pegni, restored by the Municipality of Marcianise and now the city's main cultural hub. The historic rooms host paintings and sculptures with opening hours designed for summer evenings, from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM: visitors arrive after sunset, when the city comes alive, and explore the exhibition at their leisure. In past editions, the exhibition has also been held in the Cappella del Crocifisso on Via Santoro, one of the most cherished sites for Marcianise's devotion.
The hallmark of Art and Traditions is the choice to give visibility to painters and sculptors who live and work between Marcianise and the Caserta area. In the 2025 edition, for example, sculptors Michelangelo Cice and Nicola Erboso exhibited alongside painters Pasquale Finelli, Raffaele Mezzacapo, and Antonio Zinzi. In the past, the exhibition has also proposed themed editions—such as the one titled Eterno, dedicated to timeless art and created in collaboration with the Horus association—confirming a path that has managed to renew itself over the years while remaining faithful to its local vocation.
The title of the exhibition perfectly captures its dual nature: on one hand, art, and on the other, traditions. Marcianise experiences its September around the feast of the Santissimo Crocifisso, with the Notte Bianca, processions, concerts in Piazza Umberto I, and the bottari groups that set the rhythm of the popular festival. Art and Traditions fits into this fabric as the most intimate and reflective moment: not the square, but the gallery; not the concert, but a silent dialogue with a work of art. For visitors from outside, it is an ideal gateway into the culture of a city that, amidst factories and shopping centers, preserves a long-standing history of craftsmanship and goldsmithing.
The exhibition is officially part of the Marcianise cultural summer calendar, the program promoted by the municipal administration which, from July 10 to September 27, 2026, brings together about twenty initiatives organized by local associations, almost all hosted at the Palazzo della Cultura. In the same month, the Pro Loco Marthianisi also manages the Mondo fantastico initiative, scheduled from September 18 to 20 in the same building, while the Il Sito association proposes the historic Sagra della Rana (Frog Festival) at the beginning of September.
The milestone of twenty-five years arrives in September 2026: Art and Traditions returns to the Palazzo della Cultura on Via Duomo, in Marcianise, for five days of exhibition dedicated to the sculpture and painting of the Caserta area. Opening hours are set from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM, a time slot designed for the mid-September evenings, when the city experiences the most intense period of its festive calendar.
The initiative is curated by the Pro Loco Marthianisi APS and is officially included in the cultural summer program promoted by the Municipality of Marcianise, which hosts concerts, theater reviews, exhibitions, and festivals organized by local associations from July 10 to September 27, 2026. During the same week, the Palazzo della Cultura also hosts other events from the municipal program, while the Pro Loco Marthianisi proposes the Mondo fantastico initiative from September 18 to 20.
The list of exhibiting artists and the details of the vernissage have not yet been released: they will be updated as soon as the Pro Loco publishes the complete program.

The 25th edition marks a quarter-century of the exhibition's activity.
