An international concert series held at the Museo Campano in Capua and historic art venues across the Terra di Lavoro

Autunno Musicale is one of the most prestigious and long-standing concert seasons in Campania. Established in the mid-nineties and promoted by the Anna Jervolino Association in collaboration with the Caserta Chamber Orchestra, the festival has turned the town of Capua, in the province of Caserta, into a musical capital. Every autumn, for over two months, the city becomes a focal point for classical music lovers, with a program alternating between established soloists, young talents, and winners of major international competitions.
The core of the event is the Museo Provinciale Campano, one of the most important archaeological museums in Southern Italy, famous for its Matres Matutae. The historic rooms of the museum, located on Via Roma, provide a uniquely atmospheric setting for chamber music concerts. However, the festival has always had an itinerant spirit: over the years, it has brought music to the Royal Palace of Caserta, ancient local basilicas and churches, and historic buildings like Palazzo Fazio, showcasing the artistic heritage of the entire Terra di Lavoro region.
The program spans from the Baroque to the 20th century, with a special focus on the great chamber and piano repertoire. Recent editions have featured world-class performers, including violinist Simon Zhu (2023 Paganini Prize winner), pianist Arsenii Mun, the Pangaea Trio Berlin, Giuseppe Albanese, Simone Pedroni, Olaf John Laneri, Giovanni Bertolazzi, and the Goldberg Quartet. Alongside established names, Autunno Musicale always reserves space for young competition winners, fostering a cross-generational dialogue that is a hallmark of the festival.
A standout feature is the Beethoven Project, an ambitious multi-year endeavor to perform the complete piano sonatas and string quartets by Ludwig van Beethoven over several seasons. This initiative confirms the festival's commitment to combining high artistic quality with visionary cultural planning.
With dozens of performances and a dedicated audience, Autunno Musicale is a vital component of the autumn cultural scene in the Campania Region and an opportunity to rediscover Capua and the artistic treasures of the Caserta province through the universal language of music.
At the moment, the Anna Jervolino Association has not yet released the dates and program for the 2026 edition of Autunno Musicale. The information will be updated as soon as it becomes available on the official website autunnomusicale.com.
