The ceramics and children's festival in the heart of the Elvo Valley
Argilliamo is the ceramics and children's festival held in Graglia, a small town in the Province of Biella, Piedmont, at the foot of the Elvo Valley mountains. The event, organized by the Associazione culturale UP, is entirely dedicated to the world of clay and offers two days where the ancient art of ceramics is explained, demonstrated, and made accessible to the public, with special attention given to children and families.
The heart of the festival is Piazza Astrua and the town center of Graglia, where stalls and stations dedicated to ceramics are set up. Here, visitors can observe the various stages of production up close: clay modeling in its natural state, firing techniques, and the decoration of finished objects. Ceramics are presented in all their forms, from tableware and decorative items to traditional local construction materials like bricks, tiles, and roof tiles.
Argilliamo was born with an educational and family-oriented focus: the program includes children's workshops and hands-on activities that allow the youngest participants to get their hands in the clay, shape small creations, and discover an ancient craft in a playful way. Live demonstrations by potters, unique firing techniques, and entertainment make the festival accessible and engaging for all ages.
The festival is set within the Elvo Valley and the Biella region, which have always been linked to manual labor and artisan traditions. Argilliamo enhances this identity by bringing the art of terracotta back to the center stage and offering residents and visitors the chance to spend a weekend dedicated to creativity, culture, and conviviality. Over the years, the event has grown to become a highly anticipated date in the Biella event calendar, supported by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Biella through their event grant program.
In 2026, Argilliamo celebrated its fifth edition, scheduled in Graglia for the weekend of Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7. The ceramics and children's festival, curated by the Associazione culturale UP, brought the town center to life with its usual offerings dedicated to the world of clay: pottery demonstrations, exhibition spaces, and workshops for the younger generation.
The 2026 edition benefited from the support of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Biella, confirming the event's deep roots in the cultural calendar of the Biella area and the Elvo Valley. The detailed program, including activity and workshop schedules, was announced by the organizers closer to the event date.
Argilliamo is held in Graglia (Province of Biella, Piedmont), with its epicenter in Piazza Astrua and the surrounding town center.
By car: Graglia can be reached from the city of Biella in about 20 minutes, driving up towards the Elvo Valley. By train: the reference station is Biella San Paolo, from which you can continue by bus or car to Graglia.
Admission to the event and exhibition areas is generally free. Children's workshops may require on-site registration depending on availability. It is recommended to check the updated program and schedules via the Associazione culturale UP and the Municipality of Graglia's channels closer to the event date.
