Two days of tradition and celebration in the village of Rosone, Locana
The Ardun Vej Festival is the summer feast of Rosone, one of the historic hamlets of the municipality of Locana, in the upper Orco Valley (Province of Turin, Piedmont). The name itself recalls the Franco-Provençal dialect spoken in these alpine valleys: "Ardun Vej" evokes the old core of Rosone, and the festival was created to keep the bond alive between the inhabitants of the hamlets, the emigrants who return in the summer, and the many vacationers who visit the valley during the warmer months.
The event is managed by the Ardun Vej Committee, the sports, cultural, and agricultural association of the Casetti-Rosone hamlet, which is active year-round with 5-a-side soccer and local community initiatives. The festival spans two days and combines the typical features of Canavese mountain celebrations: a penalty shootout tournament between teams, a musical evening with a DJ, a grand traditional lunch, and moments of reflection for the community.
Locana is one of the key municipalities of the Orco Valley, the gateway to the Piedmontese side of the Gran Paradiso National Park. Its many hamlets and villages maintain a rich calendar of summer festivals, and the Ardun Vej Festival in Rosone is one of the occasions where the community gathers to rediscover its alpine roots in the mountains of the Province of Turin. An authentic festival, far from the major tourist circuits, where the local village atmosphere remains the true protagonist.
The hamlet of Rosone is located in Locana, along the SS 460 of Gran Paradiso that climbs up the Orco Valley. By car from Turin: take the ring road and follow signs for Cuorgnè / Pont Canavese, then the SS 460 towards Ceresole Reale. The festival takes place in the Casetti-Rosone area (SS 460 of Ceresole, 74).
A two-day festival, typically held in mid-June.
